Can you install a rev limiter?
Okay so I've been watching some videos on YouTube that have a FB that has a 12A with a rev limiter or a 2 step launch control system on it. And I was wondering how it would be installed and if anyone could tell me how to install one. Thanks!

The set up is actually pretty straight forward. But you will need a aftermarket ignition system. I like the Mallory 6al but you can used any brand you like. There's msd and super bee r but I think sbr is just a rev limiter and not amplifier and several other off brands no ones ever heard of . Basically you can run it like a stock set up or direct fire. I remember there being a write up on this somewhere by smbaker??? Anyhow what kind of set up do you plan and running and why do you want a rev limiter ??

I want a rev limiter so I can do some kickass torque launches and hopefully get some good backfires lol. And I wanna keep it carbed, I don't really want msd injection.

Msd make a wide arrangement of performance products I was actually surprised when I found out that they made part for fuel induction . One of the main things they are known for are their ignition system which are used in almost every top fuel dragster I ever seen. I believe they also bought out Mallory.

When I had the MSD direct fire leading-only on a completely stock car, 7000rpm limit WAS 7000rpm. Very smooth, too, the engine didn't stutter, it just stopped accelerating.
That is why I expected that to be the case... didn't expect the engine to run up that high on trailing alone. Live and learn!
I do have a 2 step (on both sets of plugs...) but it's not for sitting there stuttering, it's strictly for a flat shift. When I push in the clutch to shift, it kills everything. No stutter, just off. Stuttering kills stationary gears and apex seal slots.
There's also no popping and banging from the exhaust, either.
One of my friends has kind of the same setup on his Miata and it does throw several feet of kabang out the back. Also builds 4psi boost just sitting there. It's kinda neat. It's a bit hard on engine parts though, probably a good chunk of why he sawed the block in half up to the cylinder walls...

So if I were to install a rev limiter like a msd, would I want to set it up on the leading or trailing plugs, or both? And how does a rev limiter result in broken engine parts? Doesn't it just cut off the spark?

All I would really want a rev limiter for is for 2 step launch control and to get some "kabang" out the back every now and then.

Could you explain to me why this would happen peejay? I'm looking at a MSD 6al with a rev limiter and a "2 step" option, I've seen videos, and theres no studder, its a constant limit almost like a govenor, but there's backfire, is that bad for a rotary? I know theyre prone to backfires so I'm not sure if that's bad or not.

one of those little piston/rotary differences.
if you stay on the rev limiter for a long time, this is the haps; FC3S Pro v2.0:  K2RD HOF

the on/off* of the rev limiter is really hard on the rotary. its much better to just let it over rev.

So how could I get some cool and loud pops put of the exhaust? I already plan on doing some exhaust to it.

Oh and also when you say "clean air things" do you mean emissions or clean air that's going into the engine? I'd assume you're talking about emissions, but I figured I'd ask since honestly I have no idea what the air pump does in general.
