Can I use a 84 brake cylinder on a 79?

Pretty simple question. I need to replace the master cylinder on the SA as it has completely failed. I mean leaks it's whole resevior in several hours. I can find FB GSL and GSL SE master cylinders, but nothing for SA 79s.

The car has been swapped to have rear disc brakes, so I assume I can use the master cylnder. Just wanted to ask to be sure. The SA will be back on the road in a couple days after I get the brakes back!

oh and is it possible to just use a master cylinder from an FC on the car? I have a good condition spare one if I can. Or has anyone fit a 929 master cylinde into the car?

That doesn't quite answer the question. I'm assuming I can just buy any 1t gen master cylinder that had 4 wheel disc brakes. Would I be correct?

-ebay has had 79-80/SA-specific br master cyl for $30-ish recently. Likely about $50 at a parts store. Lots around...
-IF you swap to 81+ (aka "FB") verison, you have to swap out brake lines too, because 81+ cars have a finer thread pitch on the fittings. LOT of work beyond just the Cylinder swap. This is only usually done when folks swap in the FB front suspensions...

I pulled the lines off the master cylinder in the car. I then grabbed a spare FC master Cylinder and the line fittings worked, threading right into it. It appears I just need to bend the lines to the positions to use the FC cylinder.

So I am I right to assume the previous owner went to the trouble of changing the brake lines too?

I got the brakes working great! I did just a bit of grinding on a rebuilt FC master cylinder and was able to fit in with no problem. I may need to adjust the pedal height, but the SA has amazing pedal feel now. Nice and firm!

The PO may not have changed the entire line, just the fitting.
