Camden Supercharger Anyone?
#2
I don't have any myself, but I've ridden in several supercharged rotary cars.
Pros: easy to set up, excellent throttle response and low-range power, awesome supercharger whine, you can keep your NA exhaust
Cons: a little more expensive than a turbo and peak power not as high, can't be intercooled, adds rotating weight

Wow, jump right in there with that one.......If you do a little searching, there are some nice videos of supercharged Rotarys out there. Mean sounding *******. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KSgvFA3Kk4 This one of the biggest debated issues you can get started. But, for basically a bolt and go situation, I can't say that it's not worth the money.

I thought about just telling him to search, but I had superchargers on the mind already.

Yea, I have a blower, but haven't used it to it's fullest capabilities yet. I think 84stock has the most experience that I know of.
Here's a video of the first time I fired it up:

Camden's kits are $2400 for the 7" blower.
Is it worth it? Depends. If you already have a nice exhaust system or can find the blower used, it can actually be cheaper than a blow-through turbo. But, you won't make nearly as much power. You will have a very drivable, fun, responsive car though, and it's basically a bolt-on affair.

I did it because it was fun, and so much easier than a turbo. You just bolt on a blower. As far as I know there are no bolt on turbo setups any more...you have to do your own fab work. An I'm not a fabricator, so for me the best way to go was a bolt-on blower. Great fun!

roots style blowers are cool, but if you want to get the most from a blower, then you need to look into the twinscrew... whipple kenne bell auto rotor lycholm...etc
the twin screw is proven to flow way more air and have lower intake temps then there roots style cousins

Im def wanting to go that rout!!!
But will my RB intake mani bolt to the supercharger, or does that bolt to the motor?
and will I really get the 176 HP out of it with a full exhaust and holly carb?

i've got a 1/2 bridgeport, holley 650, and a camden 7" blower. still need to tune it, but from what the previous owners (bought it used for $900 with 200 miles on it) say, its a blast to drive with one. plus, s/c whine is teh secks

Since we have no definitve numbers on this thing i chose to go turbo. I still wanna get a 7inch for another 7 though. There is just no proof of what these things can really do. Wish we had some numbers! Bolt on rocks though best selling point right there.

I believe that there are threads with the HP numbers in them.

The record high hp for the camden was 210 hp by codeblue a few years back running a 7", efi and a microtech. I hit 170 rwhp on a mustang dyno, so the 176 number that Atkins in true. Camdne gives great torque and i wonderful for a daily driver. If you wanna drag race or have dyno challenges than turbo is the best route. Don't be fooled that turbos are cheap though. Consider a quality "new" turbo plus a suitable standalone and you are past the cost of the camden.

Indeed true. Unless you go totaly used like i am doing. The camden is the best bang for the buck. Also like i said the bolt it on in a weekend aspect is great! i want to go this route soone but money is not always there to plop down 2.5k on a supercharger otherwise i would. sell me yours
