buying rb products
Sup guys, I was just looken to see if someone could give me some advise on parts I plan to buy on tuesday. I have an 85 gsl 12a and i was looking at the rb full exauhst. I also noticed that it has the collector header in that combo, I was wondering if I should get the road race header instead. And also the rest of the kit, i think includes prescilencer and the power pulse muffler. If anyone knows about these products or has owned them could u give me some advise and feed back on how this changes the car, sound/hp... And let me know if I should go with the collector header or the road race header. Also I plan on street porting my engine however they have a totally different exhaust set up for that but it costs 200 more dollars and i was wondering if it would be worth paying that much more if I plan to port my engine. Thanks!

I have the street port exhaust system and really like the way it sounds. Check it out:

I have the RB collected header and the mini presilencer. Both are quality products and produce good power gains coupled with a nice bass tone which is typically absent from rotary exhaust notes. I've listened to a GSL-SE with the full RB system and the sound is nothing short of orgasmic. It's definately worth the money for a street system, but maximum power gains will be made with a straight through muffler design, like a Magnaflow, which I chose to install over the RB Powerpulse unit.

I also have the RB street port with two presilencers and love the tones. Motor breathes much better and horsepower gain is noticable. I have been seeing a lot about the magnaflow here in the forum but have yet to see one on the road. I would personnaly go with the most trusted source.

as for the original post, get the streetport system. i have one. my opinion is that it's worth the money. it's far from obnoxious. however, my brother ha sone of the single pipe RB systems on his streetport 13B and it works very well. it's a little quieter than my streetport system.

is the streetport system louder?? or will it just have a better power gain. I don't want it to loud. Will the street port exhaust system have a better power gain with the stock 12 a or just when it is street ported will it have the difference

well, for what it's worth, if you watch the video that 64MGB posted above, my car sounds more like his. i think mine sounds a little quieter for some reason, but then again i haven't heard it run in several months, so maybe it's the same.
my brother's car is little more quiet and a little less raspy, which is to be expected because as i said, he runs the RB system that collects at the tail of the header. you can use either one with a streetport. so it's really a matter of your taste.

will the street port exhaust give a little more power then the other racing beat exhaust or will it just give more power once it is street ported. If it does give more power when its not street ported how much more horse power and if the 12a was street ported how much more horse power would the street system have over the other exhaust system. And how much more hp should i expect from either with my factory 12 a???

It'll give more power because the pipes are bigger. There's really no restriction in the exhaust at all. Granted, there is a muffler, but you can't run without one unless you want to be pulled over all the time.
I've got a RB SP exhaust for sale, just to let you guys know. only like 12k miles on it. Shoot me a PM if you want.

Best option !!!
Buy SDJ headers all stainless steel ~ 600$
Buy Stainless steel exhaust pipe about 10' long with either 2.25/2.5" ~ 70$
Magnaflow SS muffler(s) (depending how loud you like) ~ 200$
Get a exhaust shop to slap everything together for you about 4hours labor ~200$
Total of 1070$, cheaper than RB, better flowing, and will prob last you longer. I also go SDJ to add me an o2 sensor fitting so that I can go wide band. I think it was only 25$ more. Anyhow thats just my 2cents on it.

I dont know I think i might go with the street port exhaust, I'm goin to buy this today, when I wake up, I jsut got home from a graveyard and need some sleep. If anyone has any suggestions for me i would really appreciate it. I will read it when i wake up. ANd oen more question, for you racing beat exhaust owners, how much extra horse power do u think u got from the rb exhaust, and how much do u think you got from the street port exhaust. Thats basicly what i need to decide on wether paying the extra buck for the streetport instead of the other one. Thanks!

the streetport exhaust system is the ONLY one to consider. you will not be disappointed in sound or prefromance. i cant begin to explain how awesome it sounds. when you get it, roll your windows up and open your sunroof (if you have one) and back up to a wall or something. rev it up a bit and you will smile

How the hell do you figure it's cheaper? RB has it for$870....seems to be about $200 cheaper than your homemade, loud as ****, cop attenion-getter.
I'll just go ahead and buy a kit with years worth of R&D, a great sound and guaranteed 20% hp increase.

so phoned rb
I have already put some items on hold, tommorow i am going to go to the bank and paying $1510.43 for a clutch components and the high performance exhaust from racing beat. That is not the street port exhaust. The guy told me the ported one won't give as much horse power for a factory 12 in comparison to the other exhaust. Do guys think that there wont be as much horse power gain from the street port exhaust with my factory 12a???
#23
That's correct. You won't get an appreciable power gain using the long-primary (streetport) setup over the short-primary setup on a stock motor. The long-primary setup also tends to be noisier.

ya sorry should of said thats canadian dollar. my total equipment is 870$ CA same price as RB in US dollar not to mention you still have to add shipping on there too. Also with mine the extra 200$ in there is with the price of the shop bending the tube and welding everything. So everything on mine cost about 891$US with installation and taxes and what not. which is 20$ above the RB just alone without shipping.
