Buying a 13B 4 port - Questions

I wanna buy the engine for $250 and all it has is a water pump.

Honestly how much will it cost from now until it is in my car, lowest and highest costs. I reeally want this in my car but I dont have a thousand dollars and my own shop and stuff.

I was wondering if there were parts that I could take off my 12A and put on the 13B?

you will be spending atleast 1000 to have a shop convert it for you... not including buying the carb/intake, exhaust header or manifold, upgraded fuel pump with regulator...etc. If your converting to 13b, you will want to do it right the first time and that means spending $$

So it does not have the Oil pan? Carb?

And you are going to have someone else put it in the car?

Yes, someone else will put it in. Im still a novice and I dont wanna screw with it, plus I dont have the tools.

So with a $500 budget its a no go?

Would it be smart to buy the engine and slowly work on it and is $250 a good deal on lets say a good 13b 4 port engine?

you are going to spend atleast a couple grand and probably more to get it the way you want it. My best advice to you would be to start saving, and read lots...stick with the 12a, rebuild and port it, get your carb done by sterling, and invest in tools. these cars are expensive to work on, especially if you want somebody to do it for you.

As long as the motor isn't destroyed. Be sure that the housings aren't all chewed up before you buy the motor because you will spend another $600-700 on good housings.

Sterling is a member. You can get the power you want from the 12a and its lighter, it wont make the torque of the 13B though.
