Burned out wiper motor

I have an '85 RX-7 and my wiper motor has blown. I am assuming I can find a wiper motor from any firt gen RX-7 and it should be compatible. Correct? Anyone know for sure? Anything I should look for when buying one used from someone parting out and old car?

Alot of times it is the linkage that is binding and the motor is good. This is a common thing. If the motor burnt out because of the linkage and you put another motor on with out fixing the problem, you will be back to square one.

Climberchick, I have a good motor and linkage assembly. Pm me if interested.

yep, all SA/FBs the same. I think the wipers should be in the "up" as opposed to "parked" position for easy removal of the tranny and motor assy. Maybe someone can confirm that. Might not help you if the motor is locked up
be prepared that the harness connector may disintegrate! On my SA this is exposed to the sun and the plastic has been UV damaged. Wires are fine but needed to attach a new connector joint, which needed to be taken off a wreck. Black tape around the new connector protects it from the UV now...
Also the plastic sleeve over the motor - a weather protecting cover - will likely be brittle. Replacement avai from Blk Dragon for... under $10?

Welcome to the forum and the Darkside.

You should be able to source another motor at the wreckers, or post a wtb in the 1st gen parts for sale section.

Since you're new, you get my usual sig line for links to the online FSMs and other manuals, info.
