Question buh bye nikki...

My 1981 FB has massive vacume leak somewhere and Ive replaced all the lines and dumped carb cleaner everywhere, i just cant find the source of the leak. After having an edlebrock dropped on my lap i decided why not slap it on instead of yanking my hair out over a leak, however i am worried about running into speed bumps along the way.
My plan is to use the stock intake manifold, a adapter/spacer, and the edlebrock. The dizzy advance will be run of of one of the vacume ports, i will take out and plug the hole where the butterfly valve is on the intake. The intake manifold will be ported out to the same as the spacer. Now via search button somewhere up there,
^^^^^^^^^^^^^
I have found out the throttle linkage will have to be altered to work properly.

My real question is Is there anything else that i should be concerned about that would otherwise set me back a couple steps or stop me from finishing this small project?

before i forget the carb is an edlebrock 1406 so its a 625cfm carb i know i will have to tune it and change some things the question is more about the other things im deleting/bypassing what i can and cant have or what i still need.

You're gonna need some form of oil injection to lubricate the apex seals... Either you can premix 2 stroke oil with your fuel or you can tap the injectors into the manifold...

If you wanna get real creative, you can see if you can put the oil injectors into the bowls of the carb and have it run just like stock.

If you notice on the engine, there's a couple little yellowish plastic lines on the passenger's side of the engine... Right in front of the exhaust they connect to a pump called the Metering Oil Pump... (Oil Metering Pump, MOP, OMP... There's a couple different abbreviations/terms)

It's controlled by throttle linkage and feeds oil into the carburetor.

On Fuel Injected engines, it injects directly into the rotor housing and the intake manifold right before the intake ports.

You may have trouble getting the Edelbrock to clear the water pump housing, especially if it has an electric choke. It's a very wide carb.

Performance gains will be minimal with a stock manifold, which I believe flows somewhere around 313 CFM??

You will prolly need a fuel pump, and with that a regulator. Throttle Linkage may be a pain, and stuff like that. The OMP will probably need to be blocked off down below, and you will need to remember to pre-mix. If you're into it and want to do it, that's great, but it can become a pain in the *** very quickly.
