Budget Holley Setup Questions

Well I'm getting a Holley 625 for 70 and a racing beat manifold for almost nothing. Now I know I'm going to be spending some time on tuning it but that's beside the point.

I have one question: where should I hook the OMP vacuum lines too?

thanks,
matt

Uh, ok. The OMP lines need to be 'Y'ed together and run a single line up to the little screw on the primary float bowl. Just replace the screw with a little brass fitting. Not sure about the actuator rod though. Just set it somewhere in the middle so the OMP is pumping 50% all the time. A little rich at idle and a little lean at WOT. It's probably the best you could hope for, other than premix.

One thing you should try is to make a channel between both primary runners right under the carb. peejay will have more info on this.

Budget Holley Setup Questions

That title makes me laugh for some reason.

YOu should ask Racing Beat or Mazdatrix the spec's on the jetting, venturi's, etc before you do this at all. Throwing on a random Holley is NOT a straight bolt on. You may want to copy there way of running the OMP or better yet, go to pre-mix. Yeah, that adding at every fill up is a pain, but will make the engine last longer.

Thanks, guys. Yeah I know the holley ain't a strait bolt on, but I'm always up for a challenge expecally if it's can be done for little money

With how much i drive... pre-mix ain't for me.

I've seen a two weber DCOE setups running the omp vacuum lines directly to the manifold running full vacuum. Anyone know how well this would work?

I was hoping PeeJay would chime in seeing that the word 'budget' is in the subject

i agree with wackyrotary. also, i'm not sure, but i think the 625 (?) may be a little big for your setup.

I've been told by some the 625cfm would be perfect for the street port, others have told me not...
I figured I would just try it since I'm getting everything for about $100 and if it doesn't work I'll just sell it.

wooohoooo I'm a rotorite i feel semi-special

i know one thing for shure when you put the holley on it will need a spacer between the intake manifold and the carb just an open spacer will do perfect. the rb modified carbs have the runners blended to gather so that way there isn't a need for the spacer..

I cheered... and as soon as I became a rotorite... my brakes went out on my rx7 all fixed now tho.

what manifold are you going to be running with the 600?

un-parallel'd crazyness.. hehe, what does the 82 mean? Mine.. I couldn't find a screenname for aol a while back, so i just picked a random number.

A few things that I want to point out.

1. Double check to make sure the carb had a nipple to take a line from the OMP. If not, then you mix 2-cycle oil in your gas tank. (This is what I do.)

2. When all is set and done and you’re missing some parts, remember clothes hangers are perfect linkage cables when bent into shape.

3. Are you taking the emission stuff off? If so, don't forget about connecting the dizzy vacuum advance lines up to the carb.

4. Get a trick kit for your carb, this way you can replace gasket and the such.

1. Yeah I'll check on that but I'm still wondering if I can run full vacuum for the omp lines (ie. strait to the manifold)

2. time to raid mom's closet

3. Everything emission related is taken off this car...

4. righty o..

thanks,
matt

so i may just have to match that up a bit and upgrade the fuel pump blah blah ect

Pre-Mix! Go the extra mile your engine will thank you(Castor 927)! Iam not too sure about the hanger idea, I have a holley and didnt use any hangers? Also I would disconnect the vac advance and set the trailing fully advanced then adjust the leading to your engine needs(slightly advanced or stock). Iam currently running 59 primary jets and 65 secondary jets. Removed the choke and installed "the screw trick" to open my secondaries when the primaries are about 1/4 open. Also added a 1" spacer under the carb, not an open spacer just a regular 4 hole spacer. I had tried about 8 years ago a completely open spacer with all four holes open with a stock carb on a street port, 4 port, 13b and it ran like ****! But screamed like a wild banshee with the reg 4 hole stock spacer.
