Bringing wheels back to good health

Got an 84 GSL a few weeks ago. Now that most of the major mechanical stuff is just about outta the way (I think.. err.. hope) I'd like to get the car back to it's former beauty. The 13" stockers are looking a little dirty - filthy, actually. I've tried some wheels cleaner, elbow grease... I can't get them clean.

I'd like to avoid acid dipping them, sandblasting them, and sanding them.

Anyone know any harsh, but still readily available chemicals I could use to restore the shine?

Meguiars hot wheels cleaner is pretty good, however most of those rims are clear coated. In
order to bring them back up sometimes you got to strip them down first. Which means air-craft stripper and highpressure water. Then you can buff them out with mothers and a buffing wheel attached to a drill. rx7doctor

Yeah, no way to help wheels except for a lot of elbow grease. Im in process right now. 1 at 600 grit, 1 at 400, and 2 stripped.

Slow, but worth it when done.
