Since your in Aus,why not try SelectMaz.
Ive had their front brake kit on my 300HP car for about 5-6 years now and its a very effective setup. It even fits under 15" wheels, although Ive switched to 17" since the widebody conversion.Speaking of widebodies, youll need wider/stickier tires to truely take advantage of a larger brake system, save for the fade resistance.

Here's a link to a thread on my upgrade. The FC upgrade is an excellent choice. For price to performance ratio, it can't be beat. I went a different route. There are prices included so you can see the difference --> https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...ghlight=elwood

they have everything you need to run all T2 brakes, front and rear. they also have upgraded moser axles that youll need if you plan on doing any hard launches. i have this set up on my SA and i love it! you can either run 5x114.3, 4x114, or 4x110. plus billy has amazing customer service.

They arent really massive, just a bit bigger than stock TII brakes. They are more than adequate for a light little first gen,and dont look undersized behind 17" wheels. The big 13"+ monster brake kits out there are more suited to the 3000-4000lb supercars.
I dont think Selectmaz offers drilled or slotted, but it couldnt hurt to ask.

Hey Matt,
I just had a brake upgrade done to 298mm rotors (from VT-VZ commodore), with 2nd gen calipers, by Stuie at RX Performance. Still waiting on my engine to be built so cant tell you how they feel yet :P
This is under 16" wheels. Size compared to stock:
All the best
Paul.

hey cheers for the pics paul, I take it VT-VZ rotors would be fairly cheep? i like the sound of it though and it seems like a common brake upgrade for us here in Oz, was it DIY or shop?
i noticed the bolt pattern is 5? so i assume thats a completely new hub change?
Cheers for your input guys, very valuable, ill keep you all posted with stage by stage pics

Hi Matt,
Stuie of RX Performance did the conversion. He spent some time turning the original hub/rotor on the lathe and cut that out to the perfect size to fit into the VT-VZ rotors. Thats all been balanced/welded together into a single solid hub/brake rotor, so I keep the same 4x110 stud pattern, but get big brakes There is so much material on these rotors, you can machine them about 7 times before needing a replacement - they will probably outlive the car. I guess you could change to whatever pattern you actually needed when going custom though, to give you more wheel options. I got the VT-VZ rotors for about AU$45 each, on special

I'm not 100% sure how he did it - my description was vague at best - more as a summary rather than technical description..
I have full faith in his work, he stressed to me that the most important aspect of his work is quality, and he spent a lot of time on the brakes and stressed to me that safety was #1 and he made sure it's all A1. It's not the first time he has done this conversion.
I do not have any pics but I will ask him more about the conversion fyi when I see him next

I heard RE speed was coming out with a new and improved brake kit for the first gen's next month. I heard it will include upgraded rotor's and everything. (I'm hoping it doesn't change the offsets so wheel spacers won't be needed). Anyways, has anyone heard about this?

PM box is not full. No sure what would be up. Try it again. If not email me - respeed@mrcmfg.com

He got the stock brake rotors and turned them off on the lathe, so he was left with the hub, done with perfectly flat edges, to the perfect size to fit inside the new commodore disc. Then he drilled holes thru the commodore disc to line up with the holes in the hub. Tapped threads into those and has built studs into them now.
The welding involved was just filling in the old holes in the new brake rotor - as it was 5 stud. There has been no welding between the hub and the new brake rotor, as when it heats up and cools, it would have broken the weld.
Hope that clarifies things lol sorry about the misinformation earlier
Cheers,
Paul.
