Brake Noise and Pedal "pop"

Brake Noise and Pedal "pop"
'82 GSL 4 Wheel Disc
Two issues:
1.) is relatively new. Only going forward, slower speeds it's audible, otherwise I can feel it in the brake pedal. About halfway through the travel of a moderate braking event, there's a "pop" in the front end and the pedal jerks briefly. Semi intermittant as far as day to day life, but once it's doing it, it does it the whole drive.
I removed the front calipers and re-lubed the slides. It seemed to go away for about a week and now it's back. Obviously the single bolt in slide is replacable, how about the other one? In an attempt to get the caliper less side to side roll play. I assume it makes the noise when moving because of the rotational play allowing the caliper to move or rotate a bit, then the brake pressure has to overcome the friction to get it to slide. Am on off base here? Or does this make sense?
Had it in the air and got no play out of the susp components and the strut cap has some play, but seems firm enough in the rubber that its not hitting anything.
2.) In the rear, 90% backing, 10% forward there's a loud squawk, or groan/clanking. Apply more brake and it goes away. Again the rear calipers have a bit of side to side play as well.
I want to go bigger brakes and a GSL-SE Rear but it's not in the finances right now.
Ideas on fixes?
