Brake Fluid Issue

Hello. I just bought my first RX-7 Yesturday. The brakes had no pressure so the seller bled them and all was well for 2 days. We both had just assumed it was because the car had sat for an extended amount of time. Now, I have no pedal pressure and it has lost all the fluid. I checked the rubber lines to the front brakes and they are dry, although it does look like there is a leak between the master and brake booster. Is this a fairly common issues with RX-7s? Also, do I need a new Master cylinder or just the gasket that goes between the cylinder and the booster? Thanks.

BTW. its an 83 RX7 Limited Edition 5 spd.

Congratulations on your 1st 7, and being a good one at that. It is not an uncommon thing for a master cylinder to go bad after 24 years whether it be a 7 or anything else. It is just worn out. You will need to replace the master cylinder. What is leaking is the cylinder it's self. I would recommend that you pull all the wheels and do a full safety inspection at the same time. Also recommend that you completley change the brake fluid. It is supposed to be serviced every 30k or 2 years. This is because brake fluid is what we call Hygroscopic(SP), fancy word for stating that it absorbs water even in a sealed system.

Do not recommend rebuilding master cylinders. It is one of the most IMPORTANT components on the car, buy a new one. If you can't stop, you die.

Glad you got her back on the road. Hopefully you did a full inspection of the brake system.
