blower for a/c and heater won't work
I've checked the field service manual, and have searched blower in the rx-7 1979 to 1985 section here. There is no mention of a/c.
The problem is no + signal on the light blue and yellow/red/white wires at the a/c blower speed switch.. There is no + signal at the blower connection. Fuses all look good, and the fuse links inside the engine compartment on the strut are good. Also everything else like headlights, turn signals, horn , and consul lights work.
I removed the glove box, and can see what looks like a relay box on the a/c expansion core. But clymer's, chilton's manuals nor the downloadable FSM doesn't show it. There is a green wire and blue wire going at the passenger's side firewall. I think this goes to a relay mounted on the the driver's side strut tower.
I don't want to open another can of worms by removing the expansion core before I ask what the heck is going on?

Blower motor gets 12V from the ignition switch through a 20 amp fuse in the fuse box. There are two Blue white wires in the blower motor plug(G-01). One of them is the wire from the fuse. It should have 12v whenever the ignition is on. The Blower Motor switch works by grounding the other side of the motor. Lower speeds ground through the different resisters.
FSM Chapter 15 Body Electrical has a section on the heater. 85 Wiring diagram has two different AC system diagrams showing the blower motor wiring.

give me the link to your FSM, the one I have doesn't cover the a/c circuit.
yes, I figured out that the switch grounds out the blower when on. I installed a new blower, ran a 10 gauge wire from the battery + to the blower, and used a toggle switch to ground out the blower, completing the circuit.
question is what kind of fuse should I use? do I need the fuse to be close as possible to the battery?
I plan on running another + to the a/c compressor, and use a separate 20 amp fuse.
can you believe that if you look up a part at autozone's website, 48 hours later, an ad will appear offerring a $10 discount on the part!!!!too bad I already orderred that part form o'reily's.
