Blinker not blinkin'

All of a sudden while driving tonight my blinkers ceased blinking. When you activate the turn signal the blinker just stays on solidly. Everything else electrical seems to still be working. I made a visual inspection of the fuses in the interior of the car - but I haven't replaced any. Is there a switch type unit that that controls the blinking? I've looked through my repair manual and not found any information about a unit like this - but it's a crappy manual. Also - I did do a search and if you make a joke about blinker fluid - you aren't being very original. This is a 1979 if it matters.

If it's like my 85, there is a CPU over the fuse box. Hit it with a bigger hammer. Loose contact there or bad relay.

Do you have a bulb burned out?, my 83 f-150 does that when a bulb is out.

- Either the flasher unit is bad or

- you have bad bulbs on both sides of the car (test by using hazard switch) or

- the signal stalk is bad

If hazard lights are on steadily as well, it can be a loose connection in the cluster connection that goes into the CPU. It happens to me intermitently (pun intended) and wiggling it handles it for a while.
