Well, see the only reason I went 3" is because I plan to do a turbo in the near future. I needed an exhaust and i figured why not just do it now. That way I don't have to make another exhaust system this summer.

My exhaust is gonna loook like the dual n1 mufflers that you can get for the FD. It's a single inlet, dual canister oulet with 3.5 tips. It's sweeet. I hope kit sounds good with the presilencer.

You keep us informed on this. I would like to see how it looks as well as how it will sound.

I like the sound of my full Mindtrain system better than RB, but that's just me. It's definitely louder, and a lot deeper too. RB headers look prettier, but the mindtrain stuff is bigger, and just as thick. The muffler looks quite a bit better in my opinion too. It has dual, angle cut stainless steel tips. I have pictures if anyone needs them.

The car is kinda in limp mode right now. Having it towed to my mechanic's place tomorrow to get him to figure out why it's dying all the time and there's gas in the oil. Running incredibly rich and dies after idling for 15 minutes. Sound clips will come this spring, unfortunately. I'd like to have gotten them sooner, seeing as I don't think I've ever heard this exhaust system on anyone's car but my own. Can anyone on the forum here remedy that?

I have a custom made block back header , into a straight through 21/4" in magnablow. The first three feet of each primary are made of 90thou thick 2" o.d , which has two little bottles( that are used for noise cancelation, as the sound waves are force together out the smaller outlet , without restricting the flow of the pipe) a few feet after that. That are barely larger than the rest of the exhaust, but only about eight inches in length. Which collect at the front of the rear axle, and then go over the axle into the magnaflow and out ... bada bing , the biggest baddest dirt bke there is

I will get a sound file and pic A.S.A.P.

I asked Simon at TLC imports here in Winnipeg if he could speak to Fred at Mindtrain and set himself up as a dealer. PM me if anyone would like to order any Mindtrain products. You can also get a free catalog from Mindtrain. Just give them a call and Fred will send you one out quite quickly. It seemed to work well, although it is an expensive piece of equipment. It's about the same as the Racing Beat stuff, but the header isn't stainless steel. It's 2.5" though, as opposed to the 2" RB unit. And again, the two most important things: performance and sound. It should perform just as well, if not better, than any RB system (this system is designed for ported cars as well as RB's dual piped system) and I KNOW from personal experience that I like the sound a LOT better. I'm NOT being biased either, just because I bought this and not the RB, believe it or not. I really wish I could provide some sound bites!!! Hopefully within the week even; the car is gonna be fixed up soon.

Zac

PS I should also mention that the fit was perfect when we were installing the system. Just make sure to keep all your factory mounting hardware, and you'll be fine.

Thumbs up The Best sounding exhuast Period.

I have the original ehxuast man, straight 2.5" pipe to a single Magnaflow and a Blitz Nur Spec Cat-Back Exhuast. It is the Meanest Sound out there for a 12a or even 13b. Very deep all the way throught the power band is F***ing amazing on the torque and power increases.

I will put some sound clips up soon on another post later.

The Best sounding exhuast set-up for the 12a motor is headers, 2.5" pipe to a single Magnaflow cat, and a Blitz Nur Spec cat-back Exhuast.
I have all this minus the headers which are coming soon. It has a deep rich sound all the way through the power band. The power and tourqe increases are great as well.

I will post some sound clips soon.

nice...I really want to hear that Nur Spec. I have dual tip muffler which looks similar to Racing Beat DTM for the FD with 2.5 piping and headers and damn this thing sounds tinny and very loud. I would like to have a deeper sounding to it with the loudness my current setup makes.

BTW The midtrain looks good too.

What not to do. Don't let a muffler shop modify your RB header because they are too lazy to make a proper flange. Then put in a glasspack for a presilencer. After which don't let them run it to a 2 chamber flowmaster with a huge *** shaped resonator tip. The previous owner of my car allowed all of these things. I don't have a proper way of describing the noise that this car makes. Lets just all agree not to ever, ever do this again.

I've got a 12a with the RB header with straight pipes to some knock off, muffler shop brand muffler. It's WAY to loud, where could I get a magnaflow with a 2.5" inlet and outlet to use as a presilincer? And where would this fit under the car? I looked and it doesn't look like there is a good place without it hanign to low. Thanks

it should fit... welding it on is no problem if you've had previous experience (or a welder in this case)

welding works wonders

From personal experience, I had my 12a and it has a racing beat header with 2" pipe into a dynomax muffler and it sounded ok, but really pingy. That blew up due to 250,000 miles and I got my 13b. I have racing beat headers, into a second gen racing beat presilencer, then 2 1/2" pipe into a catco hi-flow cat, then 2 1/2" pipe into a nice 2 1/2" in 4.5" out muffler, with a titanium tip :-) The 13b has a very nice sound to it, it is soo much deeper than the 12a. I honestly think it is the best souding rotary around here. My friend has a second gen and has racing beat headers to his stock exhaust with two apex mufflers and it is loud as ****. Mine definitley sounds much better, i will say it is still loud but it sounds soo much deeper and stronger. I would say get all the components and get a custom set up done. I love mine. Its nice to mix and match if you don't have the money.

If someone could host a video for me I would be glad to show you how my 12a sounded.. while whooping a del sol. It was one of my friends, I would absolutely walk on him in second gear, it was bad. But if someone could host it I can get a sound clip on here.
