Dude, don't act like you got secret 13B projects goin down. Haha. Besides you're "a day late and a dollar short" ese, that SE is already I pieces holms. You missed out on the demolition. Ill post pics of the demo of the SE, R.I.P.

Started up this project again. Rather than make this one keep going on and on, I started a new one since the focus is on the re-upholstery side, and no longer about new carpet. Check it out.

Sorry to dredge this up after almost 7 months of inactivity, but I'm doing this to my '85 now and have several questions.
It looks like you didn't remove the tar stuff and replace it at the front of the tunnel. Is that just because it's so hard to reach?
You didn't do the firewall...can anyone tell me if there would be enough benefit to doing it to make it worth the effort?
If I remove that stuff from the cowl (under the wipers) what would I replace it with?
Can you take a picture of the attachment you used to clean up the metal after removing all the tar? On the vertical sections there is quite a bit of stuff left fter I've chipped away most of it. How did you clean this up without making a gooey mess? I tried a small section with the attachment in one of the attached pictures in a small die grinder. You can see a little bit of the buildup on the circumference of it already.

I personally kept the firewall stuff in place along with transmission tunnel, but have removed the stuff under the wiper cowel and just sprayed it with 2 coats of urethane. Have not added anything else on it. I'm sure you could probably put what ever you put on the inside of the car in there, but I would probably heat the tar up with a heat up to ensure a full seal so that water doesn't get under it and get trapped.
