I kept the little white things that were on the OEM carpet that clipped it to that seam under the door sil plates. I will reattach them as soon as I find someone who has an upholstery stapler. I found one online for like $25 and $5 for a box of staples. Hesitant on ordering it, since this will probably be the only time I'd use it. Thats why I may take it to the upholstery shop when I drop off the headliner and door panels and other pieces that need reupholstered to match my new black interior.

well in my case it should be easer since I have an SA there is a lot less of the wiring and stuff like that but hte guy I got it from was a wiring genius let me tell you when you started the car the parking lights came on I got that fixed he had power window doors that he put on the car and wire them up directlly from the batery onto one switch boy was that fun both windows going up at the same time really slow and 9 times out of 10 they didnt make it all the way up. so I am just wondering of what else he got screwed up in there since the wiring harnest in the engine bay is taken out of the protective loom so I have like a wire mess there like you would not believe but I will be getting rid of a lot of that stuff since my new engine wont need but alternator distributor and starter wires to go on the engine and then lights I cant wait to get it done so I can get it painted.

Yeah, the ColorBond came out good, but if I were to do it again, I'd order a glossy black from ColorBond instead of Black Dragon (since they only offer 3 or 4 colors) http://www.bryndana.com/ But I'm not disappointed with the way it came out, I just think it could be a lil better, and by better I mean with a lil gloss like a freshly detailed interior. But I still have to try "detailing" my parts car dash to see if I can add a shine to the ColorBond with some Mothers/Meguiars/Armorall or whatever. Will post the results of that test as well.

So how is everything going on this project? Are you done? More pics. looks great so far. Oh ya, (newb question), my passenger drain plug is loose. Is it supposed to be all the time. I can stick my hand through the car by just pushing up on it. Sorry for the stupid question.

I haven't worked on it since the last set of pictures. I still have the rear carpet/dynamat to do. I am waiting for upholstry, as soon as I find a shop to do it at a reasonable cost, I will have it done. Once I get that back, I can put together the rest.

Don't worry, I'm not going to abandon this thread. I'm just low on cash (to put towards the car anyway.) I will post pics/work progress as soon as I get them.

Are you talkin about the rubber plugs under the driver/pass seat and floor? There are 2 on each side. Or are you talkin about the ones in the bins?

is it the rubber plug only or the small circle of sheet matal about 4" diameter or so, that comes off if the glue is loose enough?

So did my driver side one. And that square plate too. I just squeezed some silicon on it and stuck em together. The dynamat went on top of that to help keep it down.

what purpose does it serve? i'm planning on having it welded.

No need to use a special stapler.

On my SE, under the door sill is white plastic edging that attaches to the carpet. It was stapled by the factory. I used a typical staple gun to re-attach it to the carpet. If you use long staples (9/16" maybe) they will protrude enough and you can bend them over using a tool of some sorts.

If the staples are short, I think they still held OK into the plastic without bending them over. No need to duplicate the factory staple exactly.

I got the carpet from 1A Auto.com and they use the carpet manufactured by ACC MAT which sucks. I found another site that sells carpet NOT made by ACC MAT, they are called STOCKINTERIORS.COM.

twinkletoes, are you talking about stripping from complete interior down to bare metal, or stripping the old sound deadener and old paint off?

I took most of the interior plastic and rear carpet out a while before I started this poject. But stripping the old deadener out and wire-wheeling it down to be primed took about 2 solid 10-12 hour days. Dry ice the floor boards and the hatch, its a real time saver. The get a 2" wide chissle/scraper that and withstand sever hours of abuse from a hammer. Thats where it takes the most time, around the rear shocks and the slope of the bin area. Don't worry about getting all the adhesive off, the wire wheel with do that.

I really need to finish this project too. I did put the dynamat all the way back into the hatch, I'll take pics of that too tonight and post them with the engine bay pics for the other thread.

Man I got too many projects goin on at once. Haha, its fun though.

Oh, i thought you went to black dragon for the carpet, but you went there for the dye for the plastic interior peices. Thanks for the info. That helps. I'll have to do that sometime. Great work your doing, keep it up. By the time your done with your car it'll seem brand new, lol. God bless

I still can't believe how nice that is so far. I'm very impressed. I had an idea. You should go with white paint on black. Since you got the whoe interior going black, you should go with whit on the outside(only if you need a paint job, but that blue is nice too). I just think that would be a good combination with your wheels also. Will you come to my house and clean my interior like that??- JK

I keep going back and forth about exterior color. My blue is in pretty good shape, and I like it, its close to the OE color, its just been reshot by the previous owner but its got a heavy flake in it, not really diggin that, but oh well. I wanted to repaint it the same color or like the color blue on the BD catalog. I also thought Red or White since it would look nice with the black interior and my wheels.

I'm going to be doing this all over again with my friend in the summer with his new FB. But I think it will go a lot faster since I've done it before and know what to watch out for, and little tricks/tips to get it done.
