Been gone forever..But return with pics of newly painted wheels

As the title says, I've been away from the forum for a long time. Between my job with Toyota and all the work I get out of my garage, I have finally had time to paint up my wheels. Lets hope the paint will withstand the road and frequent washes!

(500 degree F engine enamel..no clear coat

I see where you think there is overspray. I just looked and it is just the way the picture turned out. Only two wheels left to go and I like the way it looks, all for 9 dollars!

Yeah, the over spray is white, and the pain is black, so It made no sense to me haha. So what all did you do, just sand the stock wheels, and paint them or did you remove the stock clear coat, and prime the wheels first?

I sanded them a bit to get any grime removed from the surface. There are still sections of the clear which I am positive will eventually flake though. Once sanded I washed them with Dawn, water, and a wire brush. Then hit them with them with 125psig air, and hand dried them. Masked the lip off and sprayed three coats. I still have two wheels to do, I could do a small photo tutorial if it would be of help. BTW GSL, if you could photo chop a whale tale on my profile pic I would appreciate it.

Can you take a picture of them on the car, from about 10 feet away for me? I want to see what they look like from a distance. Thanks!

I would be more than happy to take a picture for you. I will try to get pictures of the process as I complete the other two wheels, although it is self explanitory. Don't be scared and just do it. If you don't like it, strip the paint . I got a few side jobs this afternoon and then I will finish the wheels. Pics will be up later.

I've been thinking about doing this same thing for a LONG LONG time, but never did because I thought that it would end up looking cheap. I like the look of a good mesh wheel with a polished lip, and thought this would be a good way to get the same look for practically nothing. Yours looks a lot better than I expected though. If you can post pics for me later of the whole car that would be awesome. Thanks!

I would be more than glad to do the writeup if you opt to make this archive material. Is there a particular format in which it should be done?

I like what you did to them...have you considered painting the underbody? if you paint it in black im sure is going to look great...
by the way.. Valentino Rossi rides an M1 not an R6.. but I guess you meant Yamaha...
Im a Gixxer guy.. Suzuki GSX-R 1000...
