i think you can get them ceramic coated? i wanna do this to a set i have for building up a turbo motor, im not sure if they must be in good condition or not.... some of mine have chips allong the edges/// so ya some clarity would be great, anyone who does ceramic coating?

yeah theres a company in canada that does the ceramic coating, and i've also heard of other resurfacing techniques that may soon be available...basically rechroming

The jury is still out on the effectiveness of this technique. The company promises that this process (cermet-coating) is affordable and durable, and the 4-rotor 26B LeMans car had a similar process done on it.

But detractors have stated that Mazda had tried this previously and found that the coating flaked off over time and ultimately was a waste of time. This could very well be true--- or Mazda could very well not want aftermarketers to be cutting into their replacement parts market. Who knows?

I guess we'll have to wait and see how many of the engines that have had this treatment make it to 200,000+ miles without a teardown.

well i have no need for them, i have plenty of good housings as well.
you cant get oem 12a housings anymore, can you?

My understanding from the Competition Manual posted in the race section is the wiped surface is actually an insert, which makes the flaking make sense, especially in housings that have bad water seals.
