Back of waterpump housing fitting.

Back of waterpump housing fitting.
Just got my mechanical temp gauge installed and thought id share the part that took me soooo long to find lol.
I had some old iEquus gauges (oil, w.temp and voltage) that I took out of my camaro when I got new gauges for that. Oil and volts were easy, but had a real hard time finding a spot for my w.temp to go without rethreading something or drilling another hole. Now I dont know about ALL mechanical w.temp gauges but mine had a 5/8 hold down for the probe and that would go into the back of the w.pump housing but the probe wouldnt seat (no lip in the hole to push the probe against so would just flop around lol).
This is what I found on ebay iEquus part number 9852 is a water temp adaptor thats 5/8-18 unf to M16x1.5. Fit perfectly, not to loose not to snug, wraped some teflon tape around both threaded ends (temp probe and adaptor) tightend it down topped off my coolant and wahlah. No leaks, and works great. Reads 185 normal driving and about 190-194 doing 90 down the highway^^
Not to bad for being 105 outside today^^

Very nice. I hated trying to find that fitting. Pain in the ***. Pretty much gotta have it made custom or what you found. 2nd gen Waterpump housings use more common fittings to go in there.
Nice find!!

there are several options:
1. if your using a 12-A water pump housing, tap the hole in back with 3/8 NPT. this is the ideal spot and recomended by most veteran racers.
2. be creative with the heater outlet on the rear plate.
3. T-Stat cover
4. radiator hose adapter.
5. front iron, driver side, between front cover and front rotor housing
