The bushing is about the same shape as a swaybar endlink bushing, but bigger. The bugger was stuck up inside, causing about a 1" lift on one side.

I might not have ever figured it out, except that as I was cleaning up my leftover parts from the old shocks I realized that there was an odd number of those bushings. I felt pretty stupid about then, but at least it was fixable. I just hate re-doing my work due to an oversight (which happens quite often, believe me).
