Autopower cage install

hi guys,
for those who installed the autopower cage, does the placement of the hoop on the floor look correct to you or do i need to push it further back? my problem is that if i keep pushing it back, the rear legs that mount to the wheel well will not sit flush and start angling itself where the rear portion will sit higher than the front portion

thanks

That generally looks right. The feet tend to sit partly on the "hole" in the floor. I think you can cut the lower part of the rear kicker leg to let the foot sit properly on the wheel well, if you want to push it back farther. In my opinion, the farther back you can get it the more comfortable it will be. I also recommend pushing it as far as possible toward the drivers side to get more left leg room. The small feet are OK for SCCA and NASA. LeMons and Chump will most likely want larger feet (minimum 25sqin, I think).

Thanks Carl. Don't think I want to cut the legs so I'll just install as is. Unfortunately I can't push it towards the driver side any further. But on an opposite note, I'm not so tall that I need to push the seat too far back. One thing I did notice though is that placement of a race seat with the cage in place does not center the driver in relation to the steering wheel. That's annoying.

If your height is an issue, you can tilt the seat back instead of moving it so far back. That is what I do and it works fine. You definitely need a removable steering wheel though to get the wheel close enough to you. That or some kind of spacer.

You are right about centering the seat. I moved it as close to the tunnel as possible to avoid head contact with the cage. Means you are sitting slightly off to one side. You will get used to it and not even notice after a while.

no height issue here, i'm only 5'9 so dont need the seat all the way back, plus i like sitting further forward anyway. i'll be bolting in flat stock to the stock seat rails so i'll be able to adjust the side to side seat position. won't be installing the front half of the cage though cause it's going to be used as a street car, not a dedicated track car for now.
