You might want to rethink your down pipe. Looks good though. Gives me hope about my car...

its actally not as close as it looks in the pictures
since it is a front view it looks like only 2 inches of clearance but the fact is the turbo is pushed very far foreward so there is more than 6 inches away
yes a heatshield will prossibly be made but probably use the turbo and downpipe wrap
IF the heat becomes a problem

heat wrap will be your best friend with that setup, if it poses a problem.

I would be willing to sell about 6 of my webber carbs to go mega squirt.

about how much do you have into the FI part?

is there any sidedraft style tb's though????

what size is the bonnet mounting hole for that tb?

the holley style throttle body iac tps injectors and rail with shipping came out to be about 460

you could get that bitchin sidedraft from tweakit. net but it would cost 500 or so without injectors

the prebuilt (im a cheater) megasquirt 2.2 with relay board, flyback board and wiring harness came out to be about 500
all exhaust was completed for about 100
I anyone goes with megasquirt get the wiring harness and fuse board from autonomics which is a hell of alot easier than dealing with the relay board
The mounting diameter for the throttle body was 4 4/5inches so it was a little bit different from the standard holley

flyback issue was transistors in the wrong place because of improper packaging
but its all fixed now
need the tach input and output figured out (msd 6a ignition)
and set the coolant temp sensor resistances and its ready to run

if any of u gentlemen have tried a non electric type of water injection pm please
I saw the idea on the megasquirt website(under turbocharger heading) but im looking for a little more information on the matter such as how much fluid this would go through and if one of those race catch cans from jegs or summit would be able to handle pressure
I made a surge tank from a small oxygen bottle but i dont think that would be enough fluid (I dont want to have to fill it up every day)

well The vehicle starts and runs

needs fuel adjustments obviously but amazing throttle response!!

forgot to put the wing nut on my carb hat and blew the thing right off so i know my turbo is working

i belive i need a checkvalve right after my high pressure pump because it keeps dropping down to zero once the pump isnt running makes starting a bit more work

turbo wrap is next along with boost operated water injection

how did i ever live without a turbo!!

it idles yet i get this wierd poping/shudder noise that slowly develops
i know it is not from the fuel mixture at idle because ive tried every variation to that
and my ignition timing is set right on the marks
im wondering if 800 is a bit low for my ilde speed with my 12lb flywheel on there
any turbo guys or megasquirt guys got ideas?

Can't say I know what's causing the idle problems, but that's a slick setup!

Just please tell me you're not running a Fram filter >.<

Nice! I used the old school DFI on my FI project but they are similar.

If I were you I'd take off the injector rail with the injectors still o-ring'd in there. Prime the pump a little (not enough to blow the injectors out obiously) then make sure your injectors aren't leaking? Are they new? You shouldn't need a check valve. If they leak they need to be sent out to be balanced and flow checked. Other problem could be the pump? Is it a walbro? It should have a check valve in it as well that does not let fuel siphon back into the tank.

A fauty/leaking injector or fuel pump could be the source of all your problems...I'd suggest a walbro 255 and freshly flowed injectors on any project car. You'll regret it if you don't!

Try idleing it up to 1200 or so just for now, sure can't hurt anything. Do you hae WB02 sensor? If not it's definatly time to get one! Pull out a plug after idleing what does it look like?

Good luck! looks awesome! Let me know how you like that mega squirt. I was thinking about buying it for my boosted v8 project rx.

well its been a couple years since i posted on my turbo setup but here is the scoop
Im stuck in a techschool down in texas for this whole summer not able touch anything on my car but plenty of time to do alot of research

my engine performance is definatly a fuel delivery and wrong plugs issue
Luckly junkyards are plentyful around here so picking up an SE tank should be easy might even rip off the gas lines because I have a feeling running my own would'nt be much fun

Before I left I upgraded to 3inch exhaust from 6 inches off the turbo(the outlet wasnt big enough for 3) all the way back with a borla as a presilencer and magnaflow dual outlet rear muffler which sounds great and gets that turbo spooled up alot faster! AEM wideband was put in also but no time to play with it at all

Cooling always worried me for this car so a 2nd gen radiator, intercooler, and another oil cooler waiting to be installed
I originaly installed this 36 plate http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/P...007258/c-10101oil cooler when I got my new motor but I do not believe this will do the trick so slap in another and that will give plenty of surface area

Also sitting in my garrage is a v3 proccesor for my megasquirt and 2nd gen cas with both coils for ignition control

then have all winter to decide what brake and suspension system I want to go with

any first gen guys in witchita falls hit me up I'd love to see some rotary projects while im down here

well just about to leave texas and bought a 81 gsl for a parts car
12a w/ auto tranny
gas tank (for in tank pump mods)
targa band (it is missing an emblem anyone know where i can get one)
glass sunroof
lsd (probably wouldnt fit my turbo car but with definatly fit my junker)

the auto tranny has me very curious as to how it would feel on a rx7 maybe even do some research on modding the tranny

how strong are the 3 speed auto trannies compared to the 5 speed?

i love driving the manual but how cool would a paddle shifter setup be on these cars
