C'mon man... Ford... No GM... Doh.. One of them uses them as OE stuff... Regardless, both Ford and GM suck *****... What does this tell you about their subsidaries?

A small chunk of **** is still ****.

You CANNOT get them out

I used to work for an independent Mazda shop, and the man who owned it would never use champions or autolites because once in a great while they would gall in the sparkplug hole, even with antiseeze. Once they gall you CANNOT get them out. At all, ever! As a result, I have never used them.

Here's a thread on spark plugs. Majority rules that NGK plugs are the way to go!

Interesting!!! and I can attest to that statement! When I bought my car it had shitty *** Autolites and the leading #1 plug was seriously galled up. It was so bad that I had to use a heli-coil to repair the damage. There was no way in hell that a new plug was going back in! I am sooo glad that it wasn't the trailing plug hole because it's impossible to heli-coil that plug hole and it would have been rebuild time.

DO NOT USE AUTOLITE PLUGS! ..... EVER! NO MATTER HOW CHEAP YOU ARE IT ISN'T WORTH THE DAMAGE

I wouldn't recommend autolite(a cheap *** ford product) to anyone ! I had a set of plugs I bought when I first got my car, they diddn't last very long and one of the bitches broke off in the block. So after the $198 bill and helicoil that followed I vowed to NEVER ever use cheap *** ford products on my car!

Autolite plugs blow, theres no denying that but all this about them getting stuck sounds like bs to me. Any plug can get stuck in there if you overtighten it or don't use any anti sieze compound on them. Saying that the autolites will get stuck is a generalization thats not true, mine went in and came out just fine. But like everyone else said, they suck ***, just spend the extra cash and get NGK.

You probably would be singing a different tune if it was your engine that was nearly destroyed by Autolites. Mine was! They were stuck! Prior to that experience I had never used anti-seize on any of my car's spark plugs and I NEVER had anything like that ever happen. In this thread alone you have two people that have had direct or indirect bad experiences with Autolites in their rotary engines. I think that is far from bs or generalizing.

Who Knows

Maybe autolite and champion plugs have a strange cut to thier threads, or something else happens in production; but once and a while they can gall

Why risks it?

It's most likely the type metal they use or the coating on their plugs that reacts with the alum rotor housings. Galling happens when two dissimilar metals are mated together.

**** guys, gimme a break! I religiously use NGK only as I have previously posted....but heres the deal.

I am in Savannah GA at Roebling Road, getting my road racing license. 4 days of glorious wheel to wheel racing. Well....I left my new set of NGK's at home. And my NGK B9EV's are with me but my special socket is at home. My worn out NGK start up plugs are so far gone they wont even start the engine without a jump start and run like ****. So I had no choice but to find something local. Thats what I had to use today. They worked ok, prolly wont last long but I dont care. Cut me some slack, Im under alot of pressure! Good news is Im NOT one of the cars that has flipped, or gone dirt farming!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alternatively, you can sandblast them or run them through a wire wheel or wire brush...

The basic NGK plug for the 1st gen is BR8EQ-14.

As a general rule of thumb, you use NGK on dirt bikes and anything Japanese made and use AC Delco or champoin on anything else!

Well I havent pulled them out yet. But after one day of hard racing, the next day the car was hard to start again. I suspect they are toast.
