Australian RX-7
Hey guys,
I was wondering...
I have never seen an Australian RX-7 refered to as gs, gsl or a gsl-se. I have no such markings on my car. Did we have different models like other countries did? If not was there a factory built 1st gen with a 13b in Australia? My car is a series 2 RX-7 from 1981, I have rear disk breaks, air conditioning and no sun roof. Wich model would this be?
thanks!

here in aus the 1st gens never cameout with a 13b...
apart from diveding our models in to s1 2 and 3.. there is no real Us counterpart...
all 1st gens in aus were a sa22c.. in the states they got the sa22c followed by the fb model which is like our s3 but has a different dash and a 13b and some other stuff...
its really hard to cross refernce the aussie cars to the US ones as the US ones hade many options between the models where as the aussie ones usally had 2 versions for each series(1,2&3)

The FB covers both your Series 1 and Series 2 cars.
It started in 1981 model year cars when the Department of Transportation required standard 17 digit VIN strings.

Ahh, so thats why you yanks have the different VIN. But, don't you mean the FB covers our Series 2 and 3? Our Series 2 started in 81.

as I understand it all non-US export markets only got one trim level, equivalent to our GSL. (4 wheel disc/limited slip diff/rear wiper/etc.)
could be wrong, though. but all road tests I've seen from the UK, from South Africa, and I think Australia too were all of the "base" model which was contented out like a US spec GSL.
AFAIK the US was the only market to get the 13B in any 1st-gen. Not even Japan... 'course THEY had a 12A Turbo and you guys over there have more relaxed private-import laws than we do. (Ours is simple: NO can't do it. They changed it a little while back... "Can do it but you mst prove it passes safety and emissions tests" which requires many tens of thousands of dollars to certify )

Mazrx7ser2 :- I dont use the rear squirter....hmm maybe i should hey since i fixed my wiper now, but I think I got it going when I pushed the wiper button down......but not sure bout that :P the water was in a rubber bag near the left rear tail light....Im assuming u mean u have a bottle under the bonnet and cant find the water source for the rear so thats where mine is, mines a series 3 tho.

Ahh right ok, yeah I had a look and couldnt see any water source, maybe the previous owner had it removed, I have a rear bobtail to install, so I am thinking of ditching the rear radio antennae and closing that up, and installing a small whip ariel where the water disspenser is, I have seen a pic of it done and it really does look great, nothing worse than seeing a big pole sticking out of the original bobtail... while im here, anyone have any suggestions or opinions about bolt on flares????
I have just got hold of the mould for them, and I can get them glassed on the cheap?? does anyone think I should go thru with it??? I have about 1 inch of rubber sticking out the sides, so teh police said I need to do something about it!
