Anyone put a big brake conversion on?
As much as I like true performance I also like style. My disk brakes are great and there are things I could do to improve upon the current set up and all would be great. BUT...:
I want more. Call it a ricer if you want but I'd like big disks with four piston calipers if for nothing else but the wow effect. I might even use drilled disks!!!I know, sinfull and useless. But wouldn't it look cool with red calipers behind open five spoke gunmetal finish 17" rims?!
I found a write up on the Mazspeed site about using the FC brakes on the FB cars. Anybody try this? How about a different means of getting big brakes? I'd like to fill 17"s with brakes & I'm thinking 11-12" disks will be necessary to do it. Any thoughts?

17's i think are perfect.... Don't know if you saw AJC13b's car, the 17's he had on there looked really good.. I kinda regret going to 16's, espically since 17's have a much better tire selection.

Wow! How much power do you have? That is a lot of brake! I personnly feel that slotted rotors, SS lines and really good pads are as much as you need........till you bolt on the turbo anyway...

In the case of my car a lot of work was involved simply to get the stock bolt pattern (the one you can't get wheels for). Also at the rear, where the '85 brakes are re-drilled for early style bolt pattern. In front this was done aswell, but with the rotor. If I ever need to get new rotors, I'll have some expensive custom work to get done...

damn 2k for a brake setup,
im sure it would work great but still
Damn,
Jimmy, your 16s look great. ajc's old car looked good too but I actually prefer 16, as FB ride kind of high in the first place. 17s seem to make the car look lifted.

To all - woops, I ment a FC to FB conversion not FD. FCs are getting to be dime a dozen now. People really only seem to want 1st and 3rd gens.
J-Oliver - Pricing estimates yet? Will we be waiting and crying about it like with the r & p conversion?
yayarx-7 - It's not about stopping anymore. It's about filling in the void behind narrow five spoke rims. It's just for looks. My 7 already stops better than any car I have owned. And ya, maybe a turbo will be in the works some day.

I have a question, are there any bigger brakes that we can go to over stock and still run 13 inch wheels? I want to stay with 13's because there is a good assortment of slicks and tires avaliable for them, and all the new bigger rims IMO are too ricey. I like old school 13inch jap rims.
