Thankfully where I live old-school Mazda's are still far more popular and there's heaps of them around. That's everything from the R-100 right up to the 1st gen Rx-7. IMHO, these older rotors have a lot more character then FC's and FD's.
Just yesterday at work I saw the sweetest Rx-4. Practically heard it coming from miles away so I was out waiting for him as he came past.
It had a 13B bridge, Weber, near open exhaust and all the good ****.

The last event(meet)that i went to here in san diego.
there were at least 4 fb's, a fc ragtop,then later a TII
and what 3 fd's it was cool up on kate sessions. thats where i met MEL. The only way, for me to buy and own an fc, would be to wrap it in a mariah mode five or six.
either one makes the fc look right.. to me. IMO

PT Cruiser in a circus mirror
As far as I'm concerned, they quit making the RX-7 at the end of '85. Period.
2nd gens were just a "sporty family sedan" for the up and coming yuppies of the time.
3rd gens looked considerably better, but STILL seemed to lack something. And, of course, Mazda priced themselves right out of the market. Why would anyone (except a confirmed rotorhead
) buy one when you could buy a Corvette for damn near the same price? The answer is, most people didn't - so they were discontinued after '95.
Now, the new RX-8 is interesting. And I'm soooo glad they didn't call it an RX-7. As a matter of fact, it should really be an "RX-9" 'cause the 2nd gen wasn't a "7" either. It should have been an "8". Anyway, back to the new "8" - it's intriguing. One time I look at it and I think "suh-weet". Next time I look at it and I think "PT Cruiser in a circus mirror"... Dunno, guess I'll have to save my opinion 'til I see one on the road.
Makes no diff, I got one of the only true RX-7's made. I've had it for almost 19 years. Think I'll keep it

(At the risk of being pedantic, they weren't discontinued in '95, they were no longer imported to North America after '95... they were discontinued in 2002 after being sold as a right-hand-drive only model for 7 years)

Actually, I didn't know that. I really thot they quit making them in '95. "Right-hand-drive"? That's no good, that's my wife's side. That means she'd have to drive it...
