any carbotech brake pad experiances?

I need to buy some brake pads for my 85 rx7 turbo. I'm thinking my rear wheel horsepower should be in the 275-300 range. The car is not daily driven, just a weekend driver. It will mostly be driven on the streets but it might see a couple track events a year (like mazfest) and also some autocross.

I deffinately don't want Hawk pads due to their corrosive brake dust (I dont want to mess up my wheels) and I heard they eat rotors. Right now I am leaning towards Carbotech. Does anyone have experience with these on your first gen? I am looking at either the Bobcats, or xp8's.

Does anyone have the XP8's and drive the car on the street? Do these pads make much noise and how do they stop when cold?

thanks

Porterfield R4-S are a great pad that stops better than semi-metallic and is rotor friendly. Brake dust is not corrosive but it does dust more than stock. I use them on my Amigo and REPU and they're great. They rarely make noise and a dab of brake caliper grease quiets it. Takes 2 stops in the morning to warm them up. http://www.porterfield-brakes.com/

I've heard good things from the XP8's too.

I had Carbotech Panther pads on the RXX-7.

The good news: Very good stopping power on the track and not as corrosive as Hawk Blues. Very good stopping power on the street, and they don't have to heat up like the Hawk Blues.

The bad news: If you don't clean the wheels frequently, the dust will damage the finish on the wheels - again, not as bad as the Hawk Blues. You can't just ignore it, though.

A friend has Carbotech Bobcat pads on his turbo-GSL-SE (300 rwhp). He does a lot of autocrossing and is very happy with the performance on the street and on the track. He is a clean-freak, so his wheels are never dirty for more than about two hours. I don't know, if the Bobcats' dust would be a problem like the Panthers.

I've run XP10s on the front and XP8s on the rear on my FD and on a 1st gen MR-2 I had a few years back, they make a slight amount of noise but they dust like no other. Stopping power is incredible, with the XP10s they don't bite as well when they're cold but for street driving I've never had a problem.
