Another "how rare" thread...
In addtion to the "How rare are GSL-SE" thread, I'm curious how rare my car is......
83 GSL. I've seen many 84-85 but never seen another 81-83. Also, I believe I read somewhere that there was a GSL-LE????
Now if only I could get a poll started for:
GS
81-83 GSL
84-85 GSL
GSL-SE
GSL-LE

So little time and money
Got a gsl-se. Never heard of a gsl-le though! I think the Limited Edition was a 1983 7 in silver with pinstriping and special mesh wheels. I could be wrong though.

love the braaaap
The LE you are thinking about was made in 83. Its just LE. Not GSL-LE. Basically it is a limited edition 7 that has all the same parts as a GSL in 83 plus a few extras like BBS style 14" rims.
Oh yeah, I have an 82 GSL.

I thought the LE was based on the GS trim level?
The only things special on it were the 14" BBS wheels, and the interior/exterior color.
I think you'll find that there are a shitload of 81-83 GSL's. I don't know if their owners are on the board, but it was a very popular model.

I think we have a winner. Looks like the LE model just may be the rarest of the bunch??
Here are some interesting links I've found (I know some already know about them)

I've scrapped two '82 GSL's and drive an '83 GSL. IIRC, the '82 driveshaft and diff have a different mounting flange on them than the '83. So if I snap the driveshaft I have or a u-joint goes I can't use the '82 driveshafts I have laying around.

82 GSL... my parts car was an 83 LE.... I'm sportin the rims and guage cluster. The previous owner got mad at it one day and beat the **** out of it with a sledge hammer. No pics, sorry... I don't like taking pics of the dead.

the 7 forum doesn't represent a good cross-section of the 7s out there. a lot of us are enthusiasts who have been patient while shopping for their car. a lot of us have SEs, more per capita than the rest of the world.
i had an '83 GSL before i got my '84 GSL-SE. there are lots of S2 GSLs around for sure. much more so than GSL-SEs.
the GSL-LE you're referring to is probably the '83 Limited Edition (LE). it wasn't a GSL. it actually had rear drum brakes and an open diff. they're pretty tough to come by, but aside from their dimunitive numbers there isn't really anything special about 'em mechanically. they did however come with BBS mesh style wheels and a couple unique paint jobs.

Yeah, I've never seen another 81-83 GSL around E. Tenn either.
I was gonna take off the GSL emblem on the rear pillar b/c I just didn't like how it looked. Now I'm thinking that I'm gonna leave it just for people to be jealous of.........=P
Or, even better, I will (also) put my 84 GSL emblem on the rear of the car just to confuse people. Might as well since I'm using the 84 valance w/slotted holes..... I have a MUTT for a car.
