Hey Robert,
What kind of radiator did you use? Did it bolt right in or did you have to make mounting points for it?
BTW looks really nice. That is the exact setup I will be running except for the "pinned" part of your build. I have your Webers w/highhat, Mallory FPR and stock turbo for now BUT will be upgrading once I have the motor installed and broken in. I just need to finish my suspension rebuild so I can drop the motor in.
Thanks

How is the intercooler mounted? I take it that it is a shorty style intercooler? It's nice to see a turbo first-gen without the "buck-tooth" of an intercooler.

the radiator is a stock unit with a heavy duty core installed.(3row) its a direct replacement and works great on the boosted setup

Robert, again, that is one very nice looking ride. Kudos on the great work.

As for the people that keep asking what it cost, a wise old man once told me the following. "If you have to ask, you don't want to know."

Easy there jr.. If one can't or doesn't know how to do the work, it costs, and the better the builder and experience costs even more. Even with doing my own TII swap, and yes, I do all of my own work, I'm still going to have nearly 5k in parts and I can be a very frugal shopper. You should see what some of the 3rd gen guys shell out for mods. I can live for nearly a year on what Peter Ferrel charges for 300 hp.

Well said.
I know a guy that has a 3rd gen. A tick over 400RWHP, $45,000+ invested. As a side note, he has as much admiration of my car, as I do of his, even with ~$44K difference in investment.

In lieu of a Weber, how would a RB modified Dellorto 48 DHLA work?

Would that be the radiator from an 82/83 GSL?
I believe those were 3 core from the factory and should bolt right in.
Thanks

You have to build a higher horsepower car to understand. It's one thing to slap something together, but it's completely different to build a car properly.

There is alot of components that need to be looked at in order to have a good all around car, and even more when it comes to forced induction.

Suspension, brakes, engine, transmission, cooling system, differential, engine management fuel system, ignition system, electrical system, exhaust, (and more...) all need to be addressed. Everything needs to be planned out and work well together, if you are paying someone to get the work done you are not only paying for labour but the experience.

Alot of people overlook how much work is actually involved in doing cars like this. My hat goes off to Robert because I have spent alot of time and money with my own project and first hand have seen how much dedication it really can take to make works of art like this!

the 79-83 radiators are shorter, the ones i have made are a very dense, closely packed fins for optimum cooling.. also they are the full length of the original 84-85 radiator so all the original hoses fit
