Alternator Plug Wires?

I am missing the plug and the two wires that go to the back of my Alternator in my 85 Rx7. (I pulled the engine months ago and I think I unplug the Alternator pig tail off the wiring harness).

The back of the alternator hasd a plug in the shape of a "T", with one wire horizontal and the other vertical. What do these wire connect too?

I have run a search and found stoff on S5 alt swaps, but nothing on where those plug wires should go...

Got any thoughts?

Great, what is the "field of the IIRC"?

Do these plug into the wiring harness on passenger side fender?

The wires for the early style alts (s4 and older) have one connection that goes to a switched ignition source and the other is for the alt warning light. The plug should be on the the drivers side harness near the plugs for the solenoids and the alternator output wire (W/R). The plug is in a 'T' shape as you mentioned with one wire being W/B (white with black stripe) and the other being B/W (black with a white stripe).

The top (horizontal) part of the plug gets the B/W wire (switched ignition source) and the bottom (vertical) part of the plug uses the W/B wire (alt warning light).

IIRC is internet shorthand for If I Recall Correctly, sorry to confuse you.

Addicts answer clears that up for you I hope.

I have the T shaped plug off the back of the alternator totally missing. I'm trying to hook it back up b/c the alternator is not charging at all.

Does the T shape plug have anything to do w/the alternator charging or is that just for idiot lights & the v-gauge on the dash..???

Anyways, I quoted up above b/c I'm looking for where to hook this plug up and I'm not finding another T shaped plug anywhere on the drivers side harness or a white w/a red stripe wire...?

It's a 85 butchered up GSL-SE I'm working with here.

Thanks.

Yep. That is your problem. One wire in the T-plug is for the dash light and the other is a switched 12v (alt needs this for charging). The white wire with the red stipe is normally the output wire (heavy wire that goes from alt output post to fusible link block). If you look at my last post on this thread (#4), it will tell you which wire is which.

Hook up switched 12v to the correct terminal and hook up the output teminal. the output terminal can go directly to battery (+), but is better if you have a fusible link in the circuit. I don't know how 'hacked' this GSL-SE is, so I am not sure what you have to work with. If the fusible link block is gone, try getting an FC engine fuse block or get an inline fuse (60A-70A) from a car audio shop or similar to put on this output wire.

If you have any questions, just let me know.

On the SE harness there are 2 tee connectors in that same harness that can reach the alt. Plugging in the wrong one causes the alt to not charge the battery. Afaik, that 2nd connetor doesn't get used.
