alternator fire!!!
someone please explain to me how mmy alternator caught on fire i have no idea how i was backing up and saw smoke then stoped popped the hood and woooosh flames are just a sshootin out of my alternator melted the belt too...my only qustion is i changed my battery could that have to do with it?

Your Alternator is putting out amps. its not DC, so its a very high fire risk.
Your battery probally was too small and it basically backfired. there are alternators on ebay for 20 bucks, no worries.

You dont want to big of a batter or your alternator wont be able to put in enough energy and it will burn out the alternator.
Check with anyone want the right size battery is. PM some people.
Rotor vs piston might know.

welp, looks like I got it wrong,
but the alternator isnt putting out DC, its putting out amps. I know its not AC.
but take trochoids advice, he seems to know more then me. he does too.

Take it to an electrical shop and have it rebuilt.
lord your telling me. its more reliable then a used one, but from working in my stepdads mechanic shop, it aint cheap on all of them, he couldve really messed that one up.
