FL Air pump belt... Do I need it?

Anytime I get upwards of 4000rpm the belt that runs the air pump begins to squeal. I tried to tighten it yesterday and realized that the pump itself is already set as far as it can go on its mount. Looking at the belt itself, its not frayed. Just really stretched to the point where I can pull it off of the pulley without too much hassle.

Right now the rats nest is still on the car and there isnt a catalytic converter. Can I just get rid of it and forget about it? Isnt that the main function of the air pump: to pump fresh air into the catalytic to help burn off any unburnt fuel in the exhaust?

Racing Beat Headers from the engine to the back will fix it with a nice low sound. Pricey but worth it. Or just get a headers and go to a experience muffler shop to finish the middle and get a nice Apexi, Borla, Racing Beat or Magnaflow muffler. I've use Racing Beat, Borla and Apexi. I like all 3. I'm using Apexi right now. I love the low tone with a nice chrome tip and using a tradition oval shape muffler. I never like the JDM oval look like the HKS one. Racing Beat is all bolt on without any welding. All you need is a weekend and a 6 pack or beer.

If you have headers there's no point running one, however if you remove the belt the water pump pulley may slip. I'd just do it and keep an eye on it.
