AGAIN!! autolites destroyed my seals! help
hey guys i just bought a motor from black82gsl, it is blown, the seals are out, well he mentioned that he put in new plugs right before it blew so i looked and yes he did put the stupid 2526 plugs in....the ones that are known to be too long and the leading plugs chewed up all 6 apex seals, and actually took the electrode right off the plugs! i have been reading alot and seen that many people have had this problem i was just wondering if anyone came to a solution for this problem??? is there any way we could get some help from autolite with getting a lawyer?? that would be really nice so if anyone has dealed with them about this can u tell me what exactly you did and what did they do to fix the problem
thanks

getting autolite to provide some kind of reimbersment for a loss of an engine would be great!! **** id be happy with the cost of some new apex seals remibersed! but really i would just like to see them recall those damn plugs...reading around on this forum it looks like this has been happening since 2001 and who knows how long they actually have been listing this plug for rx7's, maybe since the begining of the fb? i dunno

Find their head office number and call someone a little higher up and tell them about it. Show them pics of the damage and how far into the housing they protrude. Unless you have lots of money to throw at a lawyer to place a civil suit against a large company, that's about the best you can do aside from just passing on the word that they are junk.

There is no way you used the correct autolite 2526. people here have been using these for years with no issues. Infact I've used them from time to time in many of my engines including my current engine when i had an NKG foul on me. I'm guessing the plugs you pulled out were not autolite 2526, or auto lite fucked up and put the wrong stanp on the wrong plugs. This plug is 12a Fb spicific and for absolutely no other application.it's rotary specific. so someone somewhere got something wrong.

You need to post pictures of the plugs for others to see before they can make an educated decision.

be on the safe side and use the proper plugs. there's a reason NGK and Denso have the four electrode grounds. thats what Mazda designed for proper use. autolites are not the best choice for the rotary.

I just went to the Autolite site and ran through their plug-application data. H2K's got it exactly right.
They show the 2526 not only as applicable for the 81-85 rotary engine, but as a "special plug for Mazda rotary engine only."
Can you get close-up pix up of the plugs that came out?
I used to use the AR2594's in my 80, years back; they weren't great plugs but they worked. And they weren't even specially designed for the rotary.

most of the time that is right, i used them to tune peepers, before i switched to the Rx8 plugs. its $3 a plug instead of $30, so i could go thru a few boxes...
actually though me and paul yaw found the autolites were better, although you NEED an MSD.
