Question Aftermarket Stereo Setups??

i was wondering what setups you guys have in your rides? i am have trouble figuring out what i want to put in mine.

i have laying around
- cdx-4180 head unit with 2 front and 2 rear rca outputs
- 1000ww pyramid (speaker) amp 4 channel
- 400ww compition amp 2 channel
- 1400ww compition amp 4 channel (pounds!! but in my jeep)
- 2 600ww 6x9s
- 2 10's (in my jeep, both different brands )
- REAL NICE neon ligth setup in my jeep
- Mp3 player in the jeep

thinking of buying
-1000w 12
-wireless fm transmiter
-nice EQ

how would you guys set this up between the 2 rides, im rebuilding my box for the jeep and im not sure what to put in iti cant even turn my stereo up because the bass is so freakin loud. but also in the rx7 i wanted to be able to bring my laptop in there to play through my speakers thats why i need the wireless tranmiter

anythoughts would be cool or suggestions on what to put in the rx7 and where to make it sound good.

thanks
Chris

I wish I had that just laying around. Then I wouldn't have to bust my butt working to get all that.

Sounds like just a little overkill, chief. Just think about all those watts reverberating through the all-metal body of your seven. My stock speaker system sounds crappy yeah, but seriously... there's no practical reason for having that much power in a tiny two-seater car. You can usually get excellent quality with really good speakers, not just really loud ones. I, for one don't really understand the obcession with rattling the ground and cars nearby to impress people. I say you should sell that stuff and get yourself some
good speakers with money left over.

'Least that's what I'd do.

Sounds like you've got a bit of money though, so I don't know what to say for suggestions.

heres a quick tip. I didn't want giant subs sitting in my rear end but wasn't satisfied with low end when I replaced the 4 factory speakers. so I got a bazooka subwoofer and mounted it in the passanger side compartment behind the seat. I cut holes in both ends of the storage bin- one lined up with the speaker end of the bazooka facing out , and another in the other end for access to controles( by pulling out other bin) I lined with foam to stop vibrations, and coule even close and lock the storage bin.(and added a remote base volume controle in the compartment between the seats. Not 'ridiculous, over the top bass", but really good sound. and much cleaner looking, unless you like to show off big speakers .

i think im gonna replace all the factory speakers in the rx-7 then im gonna put the 1000w amp in to push my 6x9s, which should sound pretty good without being over kill, i think ill get the fm tranmiter just for the fact i can tune it into the radio and on ebay its like $15 for one. i doubt ill do mobile video yet, unless i can hide it well or get a nice alarm, i think ill also get the EQ because i need to fill that 1/2 din spot but anyway more suggestion on stereo setups would be good

Mines going to be simple, yet effective:

Head Unit: Alpine CDA-9815
Front Speakers: Infinity Kappa 52.5i
Rear Speakers: Infinity Kappa 63.5i
Subwoofer Amp: JBL BP1200.1
Subwoofer: 12” Kicker Solo-Baric L7 S12L72 wired at 1 Ohm.

Its going to be interesting to see what that sub will do with 1200 watts RMS going into it. Its rated at 750 watts RMS with 1500 watts peak, so Im hoping that running 1200 watts RMS into it doesnt just fry it instantly, lol. I hear that theyre good subs and handle power well, and sound especially good if you can keep the power to them, so Im hoping thats what I will manage to do. Im really mainly sold on them because of the good reputation they seem to have, the sound you can get from one, as well as the small space requirements for their boxes. In addition to all that, I will be re-wiring the entire cars electrical/charging systems, and adding extra wiring to the charging system to help offset the subwoofer amp. Ill be using an 80 amp alternator and either a 1 farad or 1.5 farad capacitor to help it out as well. The box for the sub will be custom built to sit in the back of the hatch area with the sub firing up at the glass. The box will also provide an integrated mounting area for the amp and capacitor.

~T.J.

EDIT: If you dont think thats simple, you shouldve seen the monstrosity I had planned before this . It included a Playstation 2, a laptop, 2 LCD screens in the sunvisors, etc. I came to my senses after installing a killer system in my friends Miata for him that just weighed the car down to no end. The car became so slow and over weighted it wasnt even funny. I had to crank up the coil overs just to level the ride height, then adjust the shocks stiffer to compensate for the weight so it wouldnt bottom out. It was insane, lol. Unfortunatly, his car was broken into last night and the stereo was stolen . It really pisses me off too, I put a lot of ******* work into that thing... Anyway, this is what it was before it was stolen:

Head Unit: Sony MEX-5DI
Front Speakers: Infinity Kappa Seperate Components 50.5cs
Rear Speakers: Infinity Kappa 2-Ways (two in each headrest) 32.5cf
Subwoofer: Audiobahn AWT-10X
Subwoofer Amp: Audiobahn A1500HCT (1000x1 @ 2 Ohms RMS)
Front Speaker Amp: Audiobahn A275HCT (75x2 @ 4 Ohms)
Rear Speaker Amp: Audiobahn A235HCT (35x2 @ 4 Ohms)
Capacitor: 1 Farad w/Digital Readout

You can see the whole car at www.cardomain.com/id/mx5_loki

I couldn't be bothered with the model numbers, but I got a sony head unit, about 2 years old, 3 amps (1x4channel clarion, and 2x2channel sony)
Sony 15" 1500W Xplod

6x9's in back, next to each side of the rear seat, and a set of 6"'s in the front doors

Goes good, but the sub amp is only 300W RMS
Could do with some more, like 750W+

I have a nice Sony head unit, 2x120watt splits up front and 2x400 watt "kicker" 12's in the rear of my seven.
As for the speakers - when the lid is OPEN, they sound ****. The guy at the custom HiFi car place (winner of dozens of awards for his installs), gave me the details for the BEST install for an RX7. He said 2x12"s were way better than one ten, and a 15" is better for Hip/hop R&B style. (I listen to all, but ALOT of techno/trance/hi energy etc) He said to make sure I put a wall between the two speakers (They are both in a single box, with a divider in the middle) 18mil Formwood, wood glue, screws, sealed inside on every joint with clear silicon. Black heavy duty carpet to finish box. Amp is bolted onto the box in-between the two speakers - BUT I have it on two thin (2 inches high x amp length) bits of timber, and a fan at the top - blowing air down that 2 inch gap, even on the hottest of summer days in Australia (30-40c) It NEVER cuts out. they are angled facing the rear and looking at the glass. when the lid is shut and I CRANK it (800watts - I have the back two 12"s bridged) the sound bounces perfectly off the glass and fires all around the car - it sounds awesome, even at low volumes! He apparently has tried the speakers facing straight up, facing the driver, facing down - and the best was (for him anyway) how I have them. I have to say, it fair kicks butt - and amazingly not alot of vibration from the car bits - the back glass seems to distrubute the sound well.

I can still carry 6 bags of groceries in the back and NOT hit the speakers.
