I don't think you offended anyone, we just love these cars and don't want some (no offense to anyone) kid getting one and running it into a solid object or person. As long as you're safe and take care of it we will be here for any help or questions. Make sure you use the search button. I'm late, but welcome to the forum and have fun with whatever you choose to do, because it is after all YOUR car. Peace bro.

I dont deny the fun of powerslides,or the extreme talent it takes to perform the manuevers that you see in professional events. They are badass drivers performing a very difficult stunts for our entertainment....not unlike how Freestyle Moto-X spawned from regular bike racing.
My problem with drifting.......besides the aggrevateingly abusive nature of the sport....is that people will always try to emmulate what they enjoy. And drifting is EXTREMELY dangerous.More insane drivers, more discrimination, more bad press.....
The rise of another extreme sport that black ***** all us performance import car drivers as reckless law breakers, is a pain in the *** for the guys just trying to enjoy building/driving unique cars.I dont race on the street and Ive yet to ever intentionally drift my car.And yet, more and more I get trailered by cops,"revved" on by every damn kid at the light, and asked by every driveup window dipsh*t to drift out of the parking lot.....
Musclecar guys had to deal with it.....
Bikers had to deal with it.....
Drag racers had to deal with it....
And now import guys have to deal with it.....
And that damn movie doesnt help a f*cking thing.

well I would have to say that this board has gotten pretty interesting to read. I would put my vote into the drift if you want to, but like previously stated it will cost you quite a bit in the end. On the other hand an occasional drift around a corner or two won't really be that bad. I drift my 1st gen. 84' and race it. So I understand both aspects. I would rather race against people because it's a bit cheaper than drifting, but then again drifting is some much more fun. If your just messing around that is.

They are going to ruin drifting! but I cant wait to see them drifting into the ditches out of the movie theater.
I drift on my video game. : D Forza motorsports, I got setups online and I can get that skyline sideways all the way around that curve. 180degrees against that 360degrees hehe

My $0.02 worth.
ANY type of aggressive driving belongs on a closed track, period. It does not matter if it is judged subjectively, or by the clock.
Any type of aggressive driving will require more funds than just driving around town like a sensible person. The simple truth is, even if you just have to pay a little more at the gas pump, due to your driving style, than someone else who drives a little more reserved, the extra funds are needed.
I am not saying that I don't, on occasion, rip my car to 6-7K on the street, because I do. Usually, it's late at night, and while getting on the highway. However, most times, my car never sees above 4500RPM unless I am on the track.
