aftermarket coil power source
i was recommended to post this in the 1st gen forum for better results, so here goes...
i've got a 88 13b with weber carbs in my 91 mx-5.
its got what appears to be a 12a front cover with distributor and aftermarket coils.
i tried searching, and to no avail i couldnt find the answer to this question:
where should i wire up the power to the coils?
also, is there anything i'm missing to run the coils, like some kind of direct fire or ignition management system?

Use a relay like the 30 amp type you can find at Radio Shack. There are only four connectors. I won't tell you which terminal goes where, but I will say you can trigger the relay from the existing power feed wire powering up your coils. One pin is the ground. The other two will route power directly from the battery, through the relay, and into your coils. The relay is basically a remote control switch allowing shorter wire runs in heavy guage.
