Whoa, I got em out (yes, it's 2:30am and it was crazy). When puting all this back together, do I:
1) Use Thread Lock on any of the connections
2) Torque or simply tighten any of the connections
3) Use washers. RB did not include any but the fittings that were attached to the OC had em.

(RB Oil Cooler Stainless Steel Braided Hose Set)

One thing I learned the hard way is that you need to Replace the Copper Washers where the Fittings go into the Oil Cooler or it will Leak.
Even if your using the Stock Lines I would replace those Washers with new ones anytime you R&R them.
Hell i'm so **** that I even replace the Washer on the Oil Drain Plug every time I change the Crankcase Oil.
I use K&N Filters now but when I used the Factory Stock Filter they always came with a new Washer taped to the top of the Box.
Mazda did it for some reason???
Take one to HD .25 cents each.

Do you think that any ol washer that fits is best or should I look for the setting type washer (like on spark plugs) that squishes a bit upon tightening, and should it be copper? So, otherwise, no thread lock on the threads and no torque specs necessary?

Use copper or even aluminum crush washers made for liquid sealing. The AN adaptor fittings should have a slight step cut into the base to press against the washer to seal against the block and the oil cooler openings. You should not need any threadlocker for this application, definitely no teflon tape. At this size, with a normal line wrench, you should be incapable of stripping the threads or breaking the fitting unless you're an arm-wrestling champ or have true fing-shuey...

Just don't round the corners of the fitting...

Well, I went to HD and they got nothin in washers of copper or aluminum, and even if they decide to carry them, apparently it won't be AN. Guess I gotta shop the net before I put this thing back in. Just as well, I had a few other things to figure out before I started her for the first time in such many years. I've never even changed the oil in this car myself so I need to find the drain plug and go through all that mess. So, I got some time.

Any ideas if any of these are it:

21-0000-9956.....OIL INJECTOR WASHER...OIL INJECTOR SEAL...... $ 2.91
41-6000-9956.....OIL HOSE WASHER.......SML COOLER+FRT CVR..... $ 1.25
41-8000-9956.....OIL HOSE WASHER.......LARGE REAR OF ENG...... $ 1.25

from http://www.mazdatrix.com/priceful.htm

Seems like I need the 3rd one there, which I cannot recall if it applies since I took the hoses off the engine side 5 years ago! However, the description sounds like the exact thing I'm working on. The 2nd item there sounds like the one (of 2) washers which go into the oil cooler itself. I should probably get out the Hayes manual and see if the blowup has these items listed and confirm items with a salesrep on Mazdatrix. Just feels kind of lame over a couple bucks. =)
