after market gages

So I have a few gages that dont work on my 85 gs, such as water temp, oil pressure and volt. So I was wonder if anyone has put in after market gages and where they put them.. I may change out my gage cluster soon too. I was thinking about removing the ash tray (because i dont smoke) and maybe if i can get like 2 or 3 small enough gages to install them there where the ash tray used to. As anyone done this? Or can anyone point me in the direction of some gages that will work on my rx7.

I have the prosport oil temp gauge in my gsl and is is a pretty nice gauge for the price. That are no Defi though. Look up a-pillar gauge pods for your year. I have a dual gauge pod in burgundy to. Match my interior and it looks astounding if installed correctly. Gaugepods.com has the best one I have seen for our cars. Btw. I still need to send them a pic for their page. If money is no object. Get defi. If you are strapped for cash. Prosport is pretty good too

I have the GaugePods.com gauge kit with Autometer Sport Comp II oil temp and pressure
gauges in it. I chose those because they closely resembled the stock gauge appearance.

I no longer have air or heat, so I used the openings in my 84 dash where that stuff goes. Looks nice, but won't fit if you leave still have the heater and air. 2-1/16" gauges fit perfectly with a little sanding of the opening.

Where would you have to probe for Oil temp? Is there perhaps an electrical sender that does both pressure and temp that can be used in the stock pressure location?

Racing Beat sells a block that goes under the oil filter pedestal with threaded holes for oil temp and pressure senders.

I cannot remember if I got the block from RacingBeat or ReSpeed, but it is an oil
pedestal. It fits right under the oil filter mount.

Check out iEquus. I'm in the process of modifying the factory console for gauges. I took a broken console cut out the pieces needed and JB welded it together. It will fit the gauges and a single din radio. A little sanding and paint and it should like like new.

I have a homemade plastic surround similar to the ones Wacky posted in place of the stock equalizer. Painted it black and stuck two Sunpro 2" gauges in it (oil temp and oil pressure). Turned out pretty well, if I do say so myself.

I don't have immediate access to my car to take pics, but you can sorta see it at the beginning of this video:

yeah that works. mine came with a plastic storage tray there instead of an eq so i would just need to find a small plate to mount there.
