Angry After engine change......Need help Bad

Ok here is what i done. I started out with a 1984 Rx7 GS....12a engine..... I went and got a car -1985 Rx-7 GSL-SE from a guy down the road, the car had a 13B engine. The engine is like new, the boy that had it just had put it in the car............ then he crashed the car out. Anyway i got the GSL-SE with the 13B engine and i tuck the engine out and put it in my 1984 Rx-7 GS. I changed everthing that i figured i would have to and then some, I changed Gas Tank, Fuel Pump, Fuel Lines, wireing harness, Engine with tranny, i used everthing from the GSL-SE all the relays, computer and everthing. The thing is before i changed the engine, i started it and it ran great after i changed the engine and ever thing was ready, i started it again and it ran great, the next day i was going to start it again, but the car would not start, Would not hit at all, also the tachometer use to jump when you would crank it but it was not jumping. I looked to see if it was fireing (sparking ) Nothing, there was no spark. I messed with the car for a few days, i messed with everthing, relays, computer, wireing, ext, some how just out of the blue the car starts fireing, the spark is good, so i tryed to start the car and it started right up and ran great, no problems, i ran it for a long time and it never did miss or anything, I dident do anything to the car after running it that day i just left it alone. The next day i come to start the car, i dident touch nothing, just got in and tryed to start the car and BOOM the tachometer dont jump so i look to see if it is fireing, nothing, no fire or spark. I was thinking that the main relay was not working but that ant what it is, I dont know what i done before to get the car to fire, and it is stupid cause i dident do nothing to the car to get it not to fire. I dont know a lot about these engines and i ant that smart on any car. I just got my 84 Rx-7 And i loved the car so i wanted to fix it up, the more i work on it the more i am starting to like them, But trust me when i say that i ant to smart on cars, but when i set my head to something i do it. I dont know if any of you can help me but what i would like to know is what all can make my Rx-7 not fire or spark and is there anything that could make it random, that could make it fire some times and some times not. I tell you what i think it might be but i ant for sure, my key switch fells bad, when you try to turn the key on there is no notch in the switch, meaning that it is smooth all the way and some times it trys to crank after it is started, but i have a nother switch, but its got different problems, when it is hooked up the lights on the dash will not come on untill it is cranking, meaning that i would not be able to just turn the key on with out starting the car, also the car dont fire with eather switch, i dont know, they both have problems. Anyone is welcome to help, I would like to hear everones ideas, any help would really be great. Thanks

I think its the ignitor. Try swaping one from your old engine and see what happens.

The ignitors are those little boxes mounted to the outside of the distributor. Change both of those for the ones from your old engine and see what happens.

Generally when the tach doesn't work its because the ignitor is bad. The tach will still bounce if its a problem with the coils, wires, or spark plugs. Mabey your distributor is no good. Try changing the whole thing. Both distributors are the same.

Ok if my ignitor is bad could the car fire ever now and then, cause the car has stoped fireing before, and then started back fireing. Does that sound like a Bad ignitor. I will try to find a ignitor to just test with to see if thats what it is, if that ant what it is i will change the distributor. Thanks a lot man

I agree with 85rotarypower. Swap distributors and see if that makes a difference. BTW, heat will kill ignitors. When you get it running, put some heat sink paste (Radio Shack has tubes of it) behind the ignitors.

You said something about the ignition switch. I don't know how to bypass the switch, but you could try that to see if that's the problem.

Ok , today i changed the ignitor but after changing them the tach would not jump, then i looked to see if the car was fireing, nothing no fire. I messed with a few things, i was messing with the coils when i fugure out that the coils was not getting no fire to them, not when the key is on or when you are cranking it. I dident know what to do so i runed a hot wire from the fuel pump relay to the coils, The wire is only hot when the key is on. The car started right up, runs good. I dont know if i should leave it like that but i just needed the car to run so i could test some stuff. what should i do, should i leave it like it is or should i try to fix it back the other way. Will it hurt anything with the way i got it wired up. Thanks you Guys For helping.
