Exclamation Aerial Motor Probs

Got my first car the other day, a 1982 rx7 in great condition but the electric aerial doesnt work. When I turn the radio of it just makes noises like its retracting the aerial but it doesnt work. Whats the best way to fis this or the easiest way to unplug it?

there are some wires you can unplug that are behind the interior panels by the antenna. Take off the panel that goes across where the hatch latches on (4 screws?) and remove that. I dont remember, but you may have to remove the inner plastic "wheel well". The wires are right back there if you want to disconnect it. I think that would be about the easiest way to disconnect it. Also, you can buy replacemet antennas, but they are usually fairly spendy. I bought one for my 85 GSL-SE and it was like $60. Anyway, you have to get back in there to replace it also (you may also have to remove the taillight). Good luck.

The inner wire that retracts the aerial mast may have broken. In that case, you'd need to get a new mast.

electric aerials dont last that long.. most in the older series 1's would have had to be changed by now..

i had to change mine, but i liked watching it go up b4 it was properly wired up so i used to use the wire that goes to my amp and i think i gave the trigger a lil to many amps and it dont work anymore
