Acelleration video, what u think?
Ok this is my 82 gsl
stock port 12a
Race Beat intake/Holley carb
Header
custom exhaust
Ac removed air pumped removed(basically runs alternator and water pump only)
Race Beat springs with Tokico shocks and struts.
I know every one is going to say something about the rpms I am pulling but thats how I do it lol.
Just wondering if its as fast as it should be with this stuff on it. Had 2 people in the car also(wich I can really tell a difference by my self)
First parts in a straight away and the rest is mostly going threw some curves.
Here ya go,

you have mechanical secondaries, or are they still controlled by the vacuum? if they still have vacuum control, you might be able to take care of the slow feeling with mechanical ones. i like it better simply because you have more control.

It doesn't matter as long as YOU like the mechanical secondaries. They are far superior to the vacuum operated setup anyway. With the mechs you decide when they open. What was your top speed on that run?

I wish I knew, gay *** 85mph speedo! I figure I am hitting about 90 when I shift to fourth gear......I would say over 100. I did a top speed calculator with and it says 135 top speed but I know I wasn't going that fast. That dam road was bumpy as hell my girl couldn't hold the camera still and the camera mount I have is for auto crossing so it points out the window so I couldn't see the speedo on it.

@ the mechanical secondaries-I totally agree, except he is using a holley. I haven't got any experience with mine but everybody I talked to said the vacuum secondaries on the holley are far better, and making them mechanical will hurt. The secondaries on a holley are tuned for performance and are adjustable. Some food for thought, I'm anxious to try the difference myself.

accelerates well. looks to have a third gear grind... also sounds like you have bad rear wheel bearings. as far as the powerband is concerened, anything over 7K is not good for the engine as the apex seals can cause chattermarks on the housings. if anyting on a stockport with the "heavy" rotors 7200rpm max. either way, i enjoyed the video.

Yeah I know since I put the stuff on it started to slip!
That noise from the rear u hear is my crappy right rear caliper it is froze up(getting new one)so the pads just sit there and chatter around and make that dam noise! I thought it was a warped rotor at first so I put on all new brake pads and that rotor and the right rear piston in the caliper wouldn't move!
And it has always had a grind into third gear ever since I got it.
And actualy at the end of the video if u listen u will hear the engine running on one rotor! Got it home and the front rotor had 225psi and the rear rotor has 0psi compression!!! Got a new motor waiting any way just waiting for that one to finally go, it had 150,000 miles on it and the way I constantly beat it I am surprised it last as long as it did! Only gay thing is I just changed the oil that morning.....what a waste!

I have a '79 speedo, and I'm pretty sure the sender gear is incorrect to the application. I had a proper '79 gear for it, but cannot recall if it got transferred when I changed the trans out, around 15 years ago, or if it went back on the core.
Was one of those "Sunday evening, gotta have it running for Monday morning" swaps.

Based on ratio calcs with my stock tires, 4000rpm in 5th should be 85mph... so my speedo is reading 5mph high at that speed. Not too terribly bad; 5.8% error.
With stock 185/70-13 tires and stock 3.909 rear gearing, and a 5-speed, 7000rpm should equate to:
Gear Speed
1st 33mph
2nd 55mph
3rd 86mph
4th 123mph
5th 149mph
6000rpm in 5th gear (again, stock-size tires) is 128mph

Tire size is crucial, and I'm fairly sure the old mech speedos are not real accurate up around the top. I've got to do calcs on mine, but on last weekend's drive to a photoshoot, I was showing ~90mph indicated at 4000 RPM in 5th, on stock-size tires. Based on the behavior of other traffic, I think that's a bit high. General traffic speeds on the 10 around Fontana can run high on a weekend, but I don't think that high - - I was only slowly overtaking the geenral flow, by maybe 5mph.

Only in California can you be driving on the freeways at a leisurely 85 MPH and get passed by a cop!!!

^Not true in cali you can be on the wrong freeway and get snagged, luckly I've had zero tickets still =D
What I learned is to keep with the pack, but let people still glide by and if they arnt fall back slowly, lets the cops choose them as bait instead of you, then again I have a bright red loud fc so I try to keep lower
Yeah your clutch was slipping alot, in the few tiems of me ******* around in a stick shift I've never herd that sound, I had tons of fun WOT'ing a v6 nissan truck hehe it's tranny shifted like delicious butter. No need to hate on me hardly using a stick nobody in my damn family drives stick, and I havent tranny swapped the fc yet :P

My bro has a 79SA auto (Ghey) it's red ext/blk inter like my FC hehe, and its auto; like twins. Well for having a old *** 12a it looked pretty fast, I wasnt in the car though (It's non op, was just moving the cars for a bit)
Auto really isn't THAT bad, I can't wait to have a stick and will never buy a auto (FC was given to me so...) the fc's auto has a pretty locked gear you can slide easy in that gear, only goes 30 or so though
Oh shi- you got a 12a too she ran strong in his car till he rreversed the batt and blew the fuel pump out, my fc has had more issues though
