Has anyone recharged there AC lately ? did you do it yourself ?
and how many cans did it take ?after recharging,,did it blow cold
as before or not as cool. and is it a good idea to evacuate the system to (0) then fill with all the same refregerent,,,in other words,,,can the stuff be mixxed ?? does it matter ? thanks

Evacuate past 0.

It's a good idea to evacuate the system to -30 PSI, full vacuum if you can swing it. Then let it sit for half an hour to check for leaks. If the pressure goes up, theres a leak. The vacuum also helps it draw in the fresh refrigerant.

Put in as much refrigerant as you can, plus the reccomended ammount of A/C oil before you fire up the compressor.

OK,but i don't own such tools to do that though,,maybe it's better
to take it to a shop,and maybe with a coupon from our local penny-saver it won't break the bank,and if they screw it up,,,
i'll own them,i'de rather do it myself always,,,you know

I had mine charged 2 years ago and they used 16 Ounces or one small can. It was not blowing out that cold of air before I had it charged, but runs strong now

Aww Man, You don't have any mechanic friends? You gotta have dudes you can goto for the expensive tools.

Any time I need expensive tools or ones that I don't own (Air tools, LARGE sockets, OBD computer, A/C machine, etc.) I goto the shop I used to work at.

Ok, so what kind of rig is used to get the system to -30lbs PSI ?

A special vacuum pump. It's gonna take an HVAC tech to have the tools to do it properly (gauges and ****).
