Evacuate past 0.

It's a good idea to evacuate the system to -30 PSI, full vacuum if you can swing it. Then let it sit for half an hour to check for leaks. If the pressure goes up, theres a leak. The vacuum also helps it draw in the fresh refrigerant.

Put in as much refrigerant as you can, plus the reccomended ammount of A/C oil before you fire up the compressor.

I had mine charged 2 years ago and they used 16 Ounces or one small can. It was not blowing out that cold of air before I had it charged, but runs strong now

Aww Man, You don't have any mechanic friends? You gotta have dudes you can goto for the expensive tools.

Any time I need expensive tools or ones that I don't own (Air tools, LARGE sockets, OBD computer, A/C machine, etc.) I goto the shop I used to work at.

A special vacuum pump. It's gonna take an HVAC tech to have the tools to do it properly (gauges and ****).
