About to buy an FB project; questions

About to buy an 84 GSL for my 13B conversion. Yeah, it may not be the SE, but the guy has a wrecked SE that he said I could have the brakes, front cover, oil pan, fuel tank/pump, wheels, and whatever else I want. He has both LSDs, but the SE one needs a new gasket or something (I can't really remember). Were there any significant differences between the GSL and SE LSDs that would make getting the SE one worth it?

There's also no interior in the GSL body (seriously, nothing). I'd like to make a (somewhat) race interior. I was thinking about black carpeting everywhere, two fiberglass buckets, and various aluminum pieces. The problem is I don't know what to do about the dash. Should I try to make my own out of fiberglass? I'm familiar with fg but it seems like it would take quite a bit and without a mold... What does it take to find an FB dash and what will I be paying?

Anything else I should be needing for the 13B swap from this guy? For instance, the SE wiring harness, a peddle setup, gauge cluster.

Thanks for any input, I'm sure I'll be back to ask more.

Get the SE lsd. It has larger brakes and the same bolt pattern as the front you will be putting on. If you use the SE front brakes and GSL rear end you will end up with 2 different bolt patterns.

As for the dash you could make one out of aluminum or something. I have seen dashes for sale on ebay pretty cheap.

You will not need the SE wiring harness if you are planning to put a carbed 13b into the car. You might need one for a FI project.

Everything else you should be able to use the 12a stuff.

Just my $02 but you might want to start with more of a whole car. It’s always easier if you have everything there to begin with instead of trying to find out what it looked like before and what goes where.

Good luck
