agreed with RotorNut. I'm 6'4, and i have to fold myself in half to get into my '82 GS. Previous owner installed some Drag buckets from Summit, and mounted them extremely close to the floor, and i still hit my head without a headliner (removing rust right now, so all of my interior is out). Other than that, I havn't had much of a problem fitting in the car. I was told by the guy at my local bike shop (i'm a cyclist, and I was talking to the former president of Cannondale Japan and head of international {besides N. America and Europe} sales) that my body is not proportioned right for someone of my height (long torso/short legs). my suggestion: go and sit in the FB (first gen), and if you fit, buy it. I've driven the hell out of my 82, and if you do some simple upgrades (which are cheaper than upgrading a FC), you need some serious cojones to test the limits on public roads.

This comment brings up the most undesireable aspect of the 1st gen, the reciculating ball steering system. They are generally very sloppy and hard to keep in adjustment. This is probably the 1 thing that brings the 1st gen down.

I got a second gen..EFI..sort of just looked and said I want it..so I'm used to EFI..didn't even know about 1st gen and carbs ,until after I "searched"(as everyone obviously says to do..)..I grew up on Carbs.(bein 45)..and If I had to I'd most likely get a Carbed ..but I fell into the Burmuda Triangle accidently!..(sinkin cash into the car, never satisfied).it comes down to what you feel you can handle mechanically..and what you like stylewise..because you can always put whatever you want under the Hood..

[QUOTE=Rotor Nut]My question is how big or tall are you? If your taller than 6' 3" your going to find that the celieng of the car is a little close or if you have long or big legs or thighs trying to shift with a manuel and turn at the same time is a little interesting. [QUOTE]

The seats in the base FBs sit lower than the GS and GSL. About the same as the 79/80.
