85 gsl ? worth

New here... Looking into purchasing a 85 silver gsl with 84k miles on it. I am wondering what it is worth and could use a little help. A little info on the 7. It is a one owner. I have known of the car for quit a few years. Older couple in there 70's now. The only real problem with the car is some paperwork issues. Back in 1997 the owners went to pay the taxes on the car and while there requested a duplicate title because they had misplaced/lost the original title. The real problem is that they did not know the miles and the person helping them estimated the miles at 177000 (not sure what math they used) and now the title states this. I know for sure the car only has 84k miles on it. The last ten years the car was driven around the block or to town once a month and totalling about 15oo miles during this time. Rx7 is in really good condition and is all original with both sunroof covers. Any help would be very appreciated.

But i see FBs and SAs on here for about 1200 - 1800 stock. Roller's are usually from 200-750.

Firstly they are not worth overly much in terms of black/blue book watever color it is.

Look for rust near the bins, the wheel wells. very common for these cars to rust alot

How do u know it has 84000 kms, couldve been awhile where the speedo wasnt working or something like that. You never know but that is fairly low mileage for the age.

Check to make sure everything works like ac, windows, mirrors all that cuz the gsl is loaded with options.

Look in the engine bay, oil leaks can often mean the end of an engine becuase they cars rely on it soooo very much for cooling and lubrication.

uhh, how much are they asking? post some pics and peeps will be able to give u a guestimate better.

Everything seems to work on car. I don't remember if it has p/s. No oil leaks and does not smoke when running. Car has not been driven in last 10 years very much due to death in family. Their are service records with car that helps milage time line. In 1997 before car was parked there was a service order receipt showing 83+/- miles on car. There is a rust spot 1"X2" in passenger rear fender well. The owner want's $1800. Thanks for your help.

sounds like not a bad deal, people on here will say they got all their cars for under 1000 running but alot did not. If everything works and seems to run and idle fine with limited rust sounds alright to me

Need pics. Exterior, interior, engine, undercar.

If it has been sitting for 10 years drain EVERY fluid before driving it.

I have been one to buy cheap cars but for the miles and overall condition it does sound like a good deal, be sure to search for the thread on resurrecting a RX7 that has sat for many years, it will save you grief, remove the bins and check under them for rust it is VERY common.

Does it have rear disc brakes (only available on 12a engines GSL models) if it has leather it is fairly well optioned

Verify that the steering wheel doesn't pull in/out ~1 inch... If it does then the collapsible shaft is damaged.

The owner just had all the fluids changed along with plugs and wires. the RX7 has been started, moved, and drive frequently throughout the years. There doesn't seem to be any play in steering when pulling on the wheel. The car has cloth seats. The bin area is clear. Does anyone think the incorrect mileage statement on the title hurts the value of the car. Four wheel disc brakes.

These cars aren't an investment, they are to be enjoyed and driven, its not going to hurt the value IMHO.
