Ok Good People,

Have a question i hope the group can answer for me ...I am in the market to buy a nice used 85 GSL-SE...I have located 2 in my area ..both 85 and both Silver ...big question is one has only 68,000 miles engine never rebuilt original clutch ... and the other has had the engine rebuilt with only 5,000 miles on it plus there is a new Clutch and new Exaust system with header ..... What would be the better choice of the 2 ??? im thinking the rebuilt one because its a fresh engine like new and was driven more ..the 68,000 one may be good but im thinking it has not been driven that much which translates to dried up apex seals ??? and possible engine rebuild in near future??? I may be wrong though ..please steer me in the right direction with all of your thoughts and insights ! i did a car check on the 68,000 one and it came up clean .. although one thing came up as a red flag ..last time it passed Emissions was in the year 2000 ! ....any insight is most helpful ..Thanks Again

For me it would come down to best condition and value for the dollar.

Exhaust system is worth $800, and I would look for receipts for the rebuild. If it is a known and reputable builder that is a definite plus.

I'd go for the one with the rebuilt engine and extra parts myself. It would potentially be saving you from some future headaches and upgrades you would want to do yourself. Good luck with your choice!

Get the one that doesn't have the red interior. The header/rebuild sounds nice, but I'm an old guy and all else being equal would go for low miles. Marvel Mystery Oil.

Hey now... If it's in good condition it's bearable - better than the brown interior anyways

As far as car choices, I'd get the one with 68k on it and rebuild it! Fun times and it gives you that know all about your own car!

I think you should check both cars thoroughly for structural integrity. That's my number one gripe. We built our race car from the ground up, body & structural restoration isn't easy, and very time consuming. Drive each car, see which one you feel the most confident/safe in.
