84 SE 13B Fuel Problem?
84 SE 13B Fuel Problem?
I have a problem with my 84 SE 13B. When the car is warm I can hear the fuel pump, (like a humming sound). Shortly after the fuel pump’s noise the car dies and it won’t start. I have to wait about 30 min before the car starts again. I change the fuel pump and fuel filter, and installed a new pump and filter thinking that the problem was a bad pump, but the problem continues. Has anyone out there had the same problem? Any help in this matter will be appreciated.
Thank you,
Luism12lm

fuel pump humming
I replaced the old sparkplugs wires with new ones but without any luck. I can hear the fuel pump humming when is hot and the car dies and it won’t start until is warm or cold.

First you need to determine whether you have lost fuel or spark at that time.
When it dies attempt to restart and see if the tachometer is moving or not.
You can also install a jumper in the bypass for the fuel pump circuit located in the engine bay to see if the pump comes back on and the engine will start.
When you changed the pump and filter was there a good flow of fuel coming from the pump? Also did you inspect for any kinks in the hose or perhaps a damaged metal line?
