Question 84 GSL-SE Steering

Hi all...everything I have read says that my variable assist Power Steering on my 84 GSL-SE should make steering at low speed (such as backing out of a parking spot, etc) much easier...

In my car, right now, it is like pulling a 100lb weight as I turn the wheel at very low speeds...

I checked the Power Steering fluid and belts...both are OK.

ANy sugegstions on what might be the cause and what I might try to do...

Thanks for the assistance

power steering pump I would guess...I don't think they were the best pumps in the world....I would have it checked first of course as that is what I think, and you can get a new one from british victoria with the trade in of your core....I am looking at the price right now...it will run you 199.95 with your core....fyi...there # is 1-800 255 0088......good luck.....cjf

That's what I am thinking as well...

what is the best way to diagnose the problem? How do you check to see if the PS pump is bad?

if it hard to steer and it has a belt and fluid it is broke. could be the pump, could be the box. but it is probably the pump.
