Did you check RB's website for cross series compatability? I don't think it would be a problem since the biggest differences in 1st gen exhaust systems are with the SAs. RB does make a couple different exhaust systems too, i.e., the shorty headers with duals and the long collected primarys.

i just swapped the old tail pipe from my 85 to my 81 ... i know that the manifolds and down pipes were diffeent , the mounts seemed to be in the right place . dont know if that helps
p.s. i belive that the 81-83 connecting pipe was different as well .... beings the muffler pipe had 2 connecting pipes instead of 1 like on 84-85 . i could be wrong however

The connecting pipes are the same 81-82, and 83-85.
You can intermix headers and presilencers from 81-85 with M/T. I believe the only differences are their support points for the brace at the trans. I never reattach that part anyways. You can even use the 81-85 header and presilencer in the Sa's. If you are using the stock muffler and connecting pipe you have to modify the bolt openings on the presilencer where it connects to the connecting pipe.
